I was hunting in a big hickory tree overlooking a big food plot. This guy came out of the woods at about 30 yards. He walked right up to my tree and freshened up a scrape that I had notice on my way in. At that time he was direcly below me. I was still sitting down and could not draw. As soon as he walked behind my tree I stood and turned around. I could not shoot though because of a big limb in my face. So crouched down backwards in my stand. He was walking, quartering away from me, I drew back. He stopped at 20 yards still quartering away. I settled my first pin about 6 inches behind his shoulder and released. I heard a whap as the arrow hit exactly where i wanted it to. It got both lungs and the top of his heart. The Montec actually sliced through his opposite shoulder! He took off through the woods and piled up only 70 yards away. My dad and I tracked him and found hime before 7 pm, still 20 minutes before dark. This was my first buck with a bow. I have also killed a 9 pointer and a 7 pointer with a rifle but this is my biggest deer yet and i was lucky enough to be able to take with my new bow. The deers back tines are 8 and 8 1/2 inches. 16 inches inside spread.
