Hello all. Let me start by introducing myself. I am born and raised in central FL. Have been involved in agriculture my entire life...citrus and cattle. I am 47 years old, and a very avid sportsman. I am quickly becoming unpleased with the growth and change in my home state of FL. I passed through AR for the first time last year while on a family vacation. I fell in love with what I saw, but my knowledge is very limited. I am really considering possibly moving there after my son finishes highschool here. (4 yrs). I would really like any info I could get on areas to possibly look at or stay away from. I would really like to be close (withing 15min drive time) to a lake, but also be in an area with hunting opportunities. Thanks in advance for any info. Shane.

One of my favorite things about Arkansas is it’s got a lot to offer. Head to NWA to the mountains or Eastern Ark to the delta.

You’ll find beautiful lakes and clear streams in the mountains and shallow waters in the plains.

I would suggest visiting the Arkansas Game and Fish website for information pertaining to places to hunt and fish and regulations for each.

Best of luck!

Willie is right, look the AGFC website for specific info on hunting and fishing. Northwest Arkansas is the fastest growing part of the state (not always for the best unfortunately), and has some great hunting and fishing opportunities. My father in law was from central FL and part of that area reminded me of us up here except our hills are a whole lot bigger and steeper. ;)

I live in NWA, Texas native, lived in KS and OH. We LOVE it here in NWA. Great schools for the kids. Plenty of fishing opportunities (trout in the white river, everything from crappie to stripers in Beaver lake) Lots of deer hunting, some hog some bear. not TONS of turkey but they are coming back. tons of scenic places to camp etc..

North central, Northwest, Western or Southwest Arkansas if you want Mountains and Lakes with lots of National Forest thrown in.
