Which came first your Bowsite handle or your tattoo?? Hmmmmm...??
I used noob because I was new but then got this since I love bowsite and spend so much time here.
Tattoo first. I'm lucky I made it to bowsite. I got this when I was still a kid in culinary school. I thought for sure my mom was going to kill me when I came home to visit.
Love that ink Noob and Hunt Fish Cook!!!
Sorry bat that was a joke it’s “noob saibot” from mortal Kombat. That tatt would look weird in my Volvo.
Birth, parents named me... and like 30-35 years later or so the same name became my super original Bowsite handle...
I've got no ink. I ponder getting my wedding ring tattooed onto my finger though. But no desire for ink elsewhere...
My tat came waaay before like when I was 17. I do want some more and know what I want but can't justify the cost. More arrows and broadheads. Now that's justifyable
I have too many tattoos to even think about it... I guess my handle has nothing to do with have of the S$$t I had tattooed on my when I was younger...
I guess I'm in Will's camp, no tattoos and super original Bowsite handle...
I use my initials for my handle. I know, not very creative. I like to keep things simple and to the point I guess. I've got two tats I got when I was young and dumb and sailed in the merchants. Seems like a hundred years ago. Neither one pertains to bowhunting.
My handle is my old nickname short for my last name and zip code... lol.. not very creative...
My handle came from Hickory Stick ....one of my first selfbows (made from shagbark hickory) I'm guessing it was around 1998 or so, when I first joined bowsite.
I've had tattoos since the late 80s though.. ..just had this one done as a cover 2 weeks ago.
I'm sure that many people my age got our first tattoo before the interweb was invented.
Not wanting to be left out, today I got “Jebediah” tattooed on my forehead.
Jeb may b you should also get one in the small of your back. I heard that's cool
I think I heard he was gonna get a picture of Pi with a crossbow on the small of his back if I’m not mistaken lunker
Hahahaha. Life’s better with no trolls here. Good one pi!
Interesting question! It got me thinking about my own experience. My handle actually came first—I chose it as a tribute to my favorite book character. When I got my tattoo, I wanted something that represented my love for literature, so I incorporated elements from that character into the design. Have you checked out
https://tattoorate.com/united-states/georgia for more tattoo inspiration? They have some amazing designs that might spark ideas for your next ink adventure, whether it's based on your handle or something else entirely.
You dirty rats ... yes, you two !
I have a fine collection of scars but no ink. I've been pondering a few ideas for a couple of decades, but nothing yet. Clearly, the handle came first. When pondering the meaning of my parent's two last names, it occurred to me that this was the most appropriate conjunction. There is more to it than that, but I'll save that for another time.
Couple'a footnotes: Some of you guys are freaky. ( Troll alert : watch out for that blue ink above) Jeb, I hope you did that backwards so you can read it in the mirror. BC , I always thought that was a reference to being very old. Lunker, keep your eyes up top when with the men ... please. You know you'll just get Ma-Pa all worked up talking like that. Ungie will never get lost or have trouble remembering who he is. Smart man. Hickstick, thank you for the second picture. I was not quite sure what part I was seeing at first. Whew.
And in case I wasn't clear. Lunka and Ma Pa are both bastard children of the Debil.
Nothin like 3 years late to the party pi….
I got my 1st over in NY when I was 16.... shitty tribal! haha. Then i sleeved left lower leg below knee, some on right leg, and entire back is covered. I don't have any pics handy, but my back is covering up some old stuff I had done in HS/College. All hunting related along w/ my daughters.
My handle is also on my birth certificate... So, that was first, by a long ways.
I'm ink free, just never felt strongly enough about an image to want to have it permanently added to me... Though I've been pondering having my wedding ring tattooed on for about 10 years. Probably not gonna happen, but it's interesting to ponder.
Ma- a hunter knows how to wait.
Will had my wedding ring tattooed on my finger. Got the back part of an arrow done and my wife got the front part of an arrow done so when we put knuckles together it makes one arrow.
I didn't say it at the time but that half sleeve I posted above is based on my name. Mars, the roman god of war is where my first name (Marc) is derived, my middle name means 'gift from god' in hebrew, and my last name means left-handed in Italian. so...in total, my name means "left handed gift from the god of war". so when I had Mars inked I had him holding the spear in his left hand, and the wolf is an animal closely associated with Mars. The symbol for Mars is the spear & shield (which is where the masculine symbol comes from (the circle and arrow...the arrow is actually a spear, and the circle is a shield). I have a whole design done up for the inside of the arm (to complete the half sleeve) just haven't gotten around to doing it.
Wholly crap, I just scrolled back, and realized this was a thread from years ago, when I saw BruceP. Hope you are good if you still lurk Bruce!
DFA, Nice, that's cool!
One of my bows got a “tattoo” this year… lol
My handle is more than twenty years old on Bow site and several other bow hunting forums. Although I have many scares on my body I have no ink. I prefer to donate blood to the Red Cross.
Rick....having tattoos doesn't preclude you from donating blood, especially if they are older than three months.
Gettin more ink in a few weeks. Can’t wait. Super duper excited lol
I just completed a full commemorative sleeve dedicated to my family, friends, music and the outdoors. Was 4 sessions 8 hours each, 2 back to back days in November and 2 a couple weeks ago. As soon as the most recent is fully healed up I’ll post some pics. I love it, and I’m hooked. Already thinking of what’s going on the other arm.
Tats first for sure - all mine were at a kitchen table when I was 16/17 and most are covered by a blanket of hair now lol.
