Was lookin to head out to western sd on a 4-5 day antelope trip. How important is it to be thier on the opener when hunting water- pressure wise. Was looking to get out thier on the opening night so I wouldn’t have to miss my kids hs football game that week . Thanks!!!!!

Not a ton of guys hunt water, they like to chase them all to hell and back with a decoy and launch arrows from 100 yards. You should be able to find some good hunting over water.

Decoys in August? I guess I never tried that so early

Lol, that's why they have to shoot at 100 yards, because they don't really work until September :)

That's my experience as well. A few years ago I met a couple high school kids while filling up with gas the night before the opener. I saw them again two days later. They told me they had to go home and get more arrows...they had each gone through a dozen.

Weather will play a lot to do with water holes. We are pretty well drought stricken right now. Not saying it will not change before then and we hope it does but cool and windy isn't real good for water holes.
