I'm collecting general data on public land hunting in several states.

In the last 10 years, would you say sightings of mature deer have increased on public land?

Has the hunting pressure on public land increased or decrease in the last few years?

What could make public land deer hunting better in your state?

In general, do hunters meat hunt or antler hunt in Arkansas?

Thanks for any feedback.

My own view is; Speaking specifically about hunting public land, there's a HUGE increase. The locals are generally so exhausted of being asked, most people don't even bother. They skip straight to public land. And it has definitely increased, and will continue to do so, over time. The increase has brought with it, an increase in hunter irresponsibility and disregard for Public Land rules and laws. I've seen dogs, heard gunshots during bow only, disrespectful people talking about knowing full well hunters are very nearby. Trash being left in the woods, etc. Generally Arkansans meat hunt. Unless they have seen a buck, they'll shoot anything breathing, and sometimes barely breathin. The bigger problem I see is poachers. Hunting during night hours, trespassing instead of asking permission from the land owner, all poses a sever risk to hunt successfully in Arkansas. Poaching by adults, and the encouragement of that practice to their children, is the single largest issue for producing and being able to legally pursue monster, mature bucks in the State of Arkansas. Hope that helps you. Have a great season??
