With 10 years of sustained increases in non-resident unlimited Deer and Pronghorn permit sales and SD being the fallback and one of the very cheapest licenses, it's time for residents to get SDGF&P to do something to make a change. SDBI has put in three petitions to put a cap/draw close to the firearms 8% allocations for deer and pronghorn and a third for the NR big game license fees. Get in contact with your GFP staff contacts, legislators and the GF&P commissioners. If you have questions get with SDBI board and we can easily explain this. It's absolutely not an anti-non resident issue. It's a resource protection issue #1 and Resident experience and opportunity issue #2.

All archery tags in SD are unlimited in number Old Bow. There is an application deadline however for public land archery deer. That deadline is June 1 in case anyone asks me :)

I hunt all private and pay for where I hunt , I’m not sure why there has to be any less tags for non resident archery for private property.

Cuz we don't need any more stinkin land going commercial so why foster its continuation?

Grizzly63, that's an excellent point! Bottom line for everyone else... every state's citizens have the right to help shape the management and tag allocation decisions within their own state. SD is now the ONLY state with mule deer and pronghorn with totally UNLIMITED non-resident STATEWIDE permits. That has to change!

Appreciated the presentation today. Did not enjoy the outcome. I have some fear and trepidation on what "they" will come up with for a solution. It will probably not be something we all agree on. I would guess we will suffer some losses. They do freely admit their is a problem. You think they could of at least raised the darn prices. I don't really think that would precluded anyone from coming to SD. Apparently they didn't listen to the harvest percentages by NR all across the state. We will see if this is another veiled attempt to keep kicking the can down the road. Thanks for all your efforts.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys but we just went through this archery thing a few years back and got that changed to an application for public ground hunters.. This is clearly not good enough anymore? Yes many of the things aren't like the other states but remember,, this is South Dakota.. Not southern Utah.
