We’ve got 12-18 on the ground with another 18-24 expected in my area. I wonder how many guys will be out. That much snow this early can’t be good for our already depleted deer herd.

Soon as you enter woods you stress the herd and use up their stored fat that sees them through the winter... 36 inches here in wny, deer are having a tough time just dealing with that.
I never stepped foot on my NY property after bear season. None of my neighbors have shot a buck, most have given up.
I’ve moved past the point of being aggravated by NY’s lack of responsible deer management and am genuinely concerned about the future of the deer herd, at least in our area of the northern zone. Absolute negligence IMO.
I'm in 9h, deer herd definitely down this season... very few mature bucks, mature does with this yrs fawns are the norm around here.
Squash, if it was just temps and snow why have my trail cam counts gone from 75k pics and 5-7 different bucks to 15k pics and 1 forky this year. It’s not weather related, there’s a precipitous crash in deer numbers in our area.
That will be interesting. Good point on pandemic kills, however there are no doe tags in my unit and The cams reflect far less does too.

The number of DMPs issued in 6K went up a fair amount this year. That doesn’t explain the lack of bucks though.
Squash not everybody gives a chit about the head gear, its those like yourself that are obsessed with antler size and width that want bragging rights, I don't care if its got a,3cibxh spike ,15 points or no antlers ,i dont care if it weighs 200+ pounda or 60 lbs if its legal. Again im not into headgear ,age structure genetics , etc. Im into killing chit, period buck doe fawn yearling ,bambi i dont care ,itS brown it's down dead finished , END OF STORY FOR ME, I'LL take oppurtunity over qaulity ,everyday all day don't care about qaulity never have never will, you want quality move to a different state that provides it . Nys always has been and ALWAYS wil be an oppurtunity state Youe a horn hunter, you judge deer hunting qaulity by the size of a deers headgear your countless post and rants prove it. anybody who needs a guide to hunt especially in nys is eithier gay,feminist , or stupid
