Are you allowed 1 buck total in Ohio the whole season or 1 buck in one county and more in other counties?

Spike, One buck only for each hunting season. (state wide) Harvesting of does may vary depending on each county.

Thanks Buc the reason why I asked is for some reason “either sex” tags are mentioned in the bag limit section. Why would there be 3 either sex tags if 1 buck is allowed?

Without looking up the dates to verify, you get a reduced price doe tag for first part of the season after that date the tag is void and you need to use or buy another either sex tag for more cost. It’s a money maker for the Dept. of wildlife

It is confusing. Ohio is a one buck state. Every state should do what ohio does. It forces guys to decide if the buck in front of them is worth punching their one and only buck tag.

The easiest way to interpret it is - one antlered buck statewide per season regardless of weapon type...

I think that the either sex tags are a very generous why for the DNR to issue tags. A hunter can buy just one tag and shoot a buck or a doe. If the hunter is nearing the end of their hunt they can fill the tag that they were saving for a buck with a doe. I cannot think of a downside for the hunter.
