Hi Cliff, hope all is well...

Posted this morel thread over on the main forum to see how the mushroom pop-up migrate north, but thought I'd post here to hear locally....

Hey - I'm not touching that youtube thread over there...8^)

Gary, Things are going fine with me. I hope that the same is true with you.

A couple of guys are pretty invested in the youtube thread. To a point it is interesting to hear other people's opinions.

I haven't looked for any morels yet, but after this week of warm weather it will be time to start looking.

Noticed Dandelions in the yard today, old timers say when Dandelions pop, so do Morels...

I finally located some elm trees in the right stage of death. Found 38 last evening.

Nice ! Old Reb , I’ve always heard look around dead elms never worked for me. What’s the right stage of dead?

MnM, I always look for elms that have some limbs that are dead and have no leaves. Other branches will still look healthy. Also the elms will have bark that is cracking and just starting to peel away from the trunk. This is what I Iook for but morels are not 100% guaranteed at every tree.

Around my area it's usually about over by the last week in May. North Central Ohio.

The latest I found was years ago on June 6 in northern Ohio near Bass Lake, Geauga County...

I had an interesting mixed bag on Friday. I found a reasonable number of nice yellows which seems to be typical for me as the season starts to wind down. I also found some smaller grays which is typical for me as the first mushrooms of the year are coming up. Overall a real nice day.

I found 4 old, dry mushrooms yesterday. Time to call it quits for me.
