Thread has been dead, so figured I could add a few pics to get it going….
My oldest son got his 2nd bow deer on 10/6. I was busy so Momma (avid gun hunter herself) sat in his double stand with him.
The next evening he and I were together in a different double stand and I was able to take a doe.
Then, on 10/17 I took my largest bodied buck to date, a big no brow 6 pt.
Finally, on youth day, my youngest son got a nice doe!

Good mature WV buck
Good mature WV buck
Second day of the season I took a nice doe. October 29th headed to Missouri for 10 days, worked hard but could not get a legal deer within bow range. Came back to WV the 10th of November hoping I'd get into some action on my property. On the evening of the 13th had several in deer in my back food plot, 4 does had just walked in. With just a few minutes of light I stood up. This big bodied buck eventually came in at 24 yards but it was getting dark. He was slightly facing me as he fed and continued to face that direction as my last light was waning. I looked down at my pins and I could still see them well as I was facing the setting sun. I pulled out my grunt and hit him with a couple light burnnnt, thank god he repositioned himself. Still a slight quarter but enough I could get a well placed arrow behind the shoulder bone. By this time all I could see is a silhouette of a deer, launched the arrow and bam he hit the ground, I knew I'd somehow hit him in the spine. Not the beautiful wide buck I was expecting but a good mature buck.

Not the beautiful wide buck I was expecting but a good mature buck. Then the ugly of hunting started, he's paralyzed, I immediately climb down with no light left and put what's left of the arrows in my quiver into him. I couldn't see my pins but could make out the housing, so at 5 yards I disposed of him.

Killed this one back in October. Off the ground. Stalled upto within 32 yards. Let it eat. He ran 75-80 yards leaving a blood trail that’s impossible to describe.
