A washed out Saturday in Pennsyltucky (I know that irritates you) and the antiquated old Blue laws dictate that demons will posses your soul and you will die in smoke and fire and rot in a cesspool of raging sin if you want to hunt deer on a Sunday here in the Tucky. What a world, a fine morning like this where we should be able to excercise our rights as hunters to pursue game. But those Blue laws have nothing to with game management, but more about making sure you are marched to a building, putting $ in those collection plates and obeying. Not enjoying time outdoors pursuing deer. Obey, comply and don't you dare hunt. Or, should it have been make sure no one else shoots my deer while I am obeying? They are the same.

Don’t forget the deer need a day of rest.....................LOL! ;-)

Looks like we’re gonna be hard pressed to break this pattern! Forecast is calling for rain again this coming Saturday : (

It rained here off and on 4 or 5 times today. I collected all my sd cards while finding some new scrapes and rubs today. I also prepped a tree and some brush to move a tree stand closer to one of those spots. If I only had those pictures 2 weeks ago I would have shot a 10 point that had at least one double brow tine. I even saw the big wide 7 point today up where Rut shot his 8 point a while back. We didn't even go out Saturday and a different big buck got his picture taken 12 yards from my swamp stand a little after 5:30 PM. I would have got wet for that one.

Don’t worry Perry they do when you’re in the woods! Lol

it certainly is frustrating when every state that borders PA is open to hunting on Sundays.

No, they are still kicking around the stats from the "bull" 3 days they gave us to shut us up.

If someone can refresh my memory. What is exactly the reason that there is no Sunday hunting allowed.

First it was tradition...............now they are being conservative to protect the resource. They want to slowly implement it so there is no over-harvest. At least that’s what they claimed................

It survived the archery harvest increase due to the influx of xbows. A few Sundays ain't gonna hurt the resource.

I know Tom. And I agree it’s about time they open it up for the entire hunting season.

I was just stating what I believe the PGC rationale is..................

I am on the fence , while I understand the great privelidge it would be to hunt on Sunday , its a great catch up day to fill the firewood rack let the nonhunters have a day to hike , clean the leaves practice shooting that bow. AND just give the deer a rest from all the pressure

Yes, nice the deer can have a day to not set the alarm clock and rest...the day of rest is bs, they do the same thing every day, rather there is a hunter in a tree or not.

I don't think you should drink coffee on Wednesday, give the coffee maker a day of rest and the non coffee drinkers a day to not smell coffee, makes as much sense.

Glad my son is almost 21 , so we can do a wholesome father/son activity like go to the bar instead hunting together on land we own and get to pay taxes on.

The choice should be your own decision. If you don't want to hunt on Sunday than dont. The day of rest is bs. The deer don't no what day it is. They don't get a rest from cars ,predators, decease, weather. As for the religious part of it, if you want to use Sunday for your day of rest or worship that's your choice not mine and I should be allowed to enjoy my Sunday the way I want to. People do things seven days a week now. I don't think church is what it used to be like it was back in the day, its just that times have changed. And what about state game lands or state forest. Hunter dollars go to those game lands so why can't I hunt t there its part mine and all the the other hunters. We should be able to use it for what's intended for. It makes me feel like my rights are being infringed upon.

And I don't think the issue is being pressed enough.

05-Nov-23
That's what those antiquated blue laws were designed for in pennsyltucky. To keep you out of the woods and not enjoying time afield. They were designed for, by and made for religion. Nothing more, nothing less. Add in the facts that guys who hate SH are in most part biased because if you do have "the choice " to hunt Sunday, then your going to be shooting their bucks, they can't have that because they are filling those collections plates and funneling into those buildings. Can't have you in the woods, nuh huh.

Well maybe we should do what everyone else does. Start protesting and causing a ruckes. That seems to be the only way the people that make the rules get the message. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Bowhunting 5c is right about those blue laws and they have no place in our society today. Maybe they should start not allowing everything else on Sundays and see how that goes. And or maybe we should ban together and just start hunting on Sunday.

05-Nov-23
There's only 2 things left in pennsyltucky you're not allowed to do on Sunday, Hunt a deer or buy a car. Booze, yup. Gambling, yup, strippers, you betcha. Hunt a deer? You sinner.

I did read that someone said they want to implement it slowly so there there is no over harvest, but they letting people get up to six doe tags if they can get them and that's not a concern for over harvest. I dont get why one person would need to kill 6 doe p!us a buck. That seems a little excessive to me.

Doug, here in the SRA'S, we have property that we hunt and killing does is part of the agreement to continue to hunt these areas. In 5D and 5C there is a major antlerless problem and the limit on 6 is a problem. Both of these areas I hunt (a golf course and a horse farm) want doe shot.

We do donate deer every year to HSH.

From: Red Lion
06-Nov-23
Yes I do get there are areas that are over populated and something has to be done and donating is a good thing. I’m onboard with that. But I think there are a lot areas in Pa that just can’t handle having that many deer taken.

07-Nov-23
When they decided to broad brush the entire state with 6 doe tags, it's a hard sell. I know there are some areas in PA that can not sustain a 6 doe tags quota. Not sure why we are also handcuffed to only being able to get 6 in the SRA 'S Either. And there are guys on here that consistently kill double digits up till the last few years, now they can't get the tags. I have hit double digits twice in my career, when I had a spot bordering Valley Forge, and Smith road along the turnpike. Now, I may fill 4-6 and a buck tag. But my group is 5, where it used to be just a Friend and I.
