..........in the wild? Just curious how many have experienced this?
I heard it for the first time today in over 20 years of hunting the rut!
It was wild! The buck was tending a doe and let out 6 very loud and long growls over the course of about 3 minutes. So cool how you think you have seen it all in 20+ years of Bowhunting and then you experience something totally new!
It sounded a little deeper and longer than this, but it is pretty close................

There is no mistaking that deep gutorial roar. It's unmistakable. Same as the snort wheeze, when you hear it the first time ever hear it, kinda unsettling. Awesome but unique.

I saw a Piebald doe yesterday, the first time I've ever seen one. 45 years of hunting and never seen one but saw one standing on the lawn of our clubhouse feeding.

He roared
He roared
Actually after all my years in the woods , and hearing a fair share of grunts . This year my buck roared twice including many many grunts. It went on for over an hour before he presented a shot. It was a great morning in Pennwoods. A great memory and my dog made his first track job

That's COOL Chip! Congrats on the buck. Just curious if he was tending a doe? Or was there a doe in the area?

I have only heard bucks growl in Ohio. Never in PA, MS, IO, MD, or NJ.
