Just looking for thoughts on the placement of a gravity tripod feeder I purchased.Would it be better in a place that has cover for the deer to feel safer or out in the open such as a field?Looking forward to your replies.

Depends on if you're trying to kill something under it or just attract/feed wildlife under it to watch.

The one in cover will get more daylight activity. The one in the field will get mostly nocturnal action.

I have both. My field feeder is great for inventory. I generally don’t shoot bucks over bait but does are a different story. And it’s always the bait that’s in the thickets.

I'm convinced bucks fear spin feeders, go down wind of gravity feeders after velvet shed and may only eat corn from the group in open areas if at all (in my area of SE OH)
