December 26th, day after Xmas, one of the days during the season I always look forward to. This year was no different. I was so excited about bowhunting today I forgot my platform extension for the back of my hoopty. Got in around 12:30, jumped 3 on the way in, got settled. Seen deer at 2, they just kept funneling our and browsing, not any hurry. Around 330 they slowly moved off, I was thinking this was it and night was over. I didn't initially have the wind, easterly winds are a killer here, but about 3, they shifted to blowing in my face and over my right shoulder. It turned out to be a very good thing. 3:40 they turned back and made their way to the creek, crossing they were very slow, deliberate. The lead doe, of 7 in that herd made the move to crest the hill and the others followed. Still very slow very cautious, the lead doe got broadside at a little more than 20 yards, I drew and had a lot of time to settle in and float that pin. I shot her text book in high and out low. She went 50 yards and toppled over.
Good hunt tonight, a night that I will remember, it all came together. This will close the book on hunting in 5C for the season, I am still holding onto one for 5D, and have the rest of the week to chase those buggers. 5C was awfully good to me this season, 4 does and 1 buck there.
Deer was tagged and donated to the chester County food bank. The 4th donation this year. The Hoyt is 6 for 6 this season and trying to finish it out in 5D. Have a terrific new year.

Perry, thanks. It certainly has been. Sitting this one out today, rain forecast for crap all day. Good luck this weekend. I'll be hanging high in 5D Thursday. Been a while since I ran out of tags.
