I don't think there is a thread for this year yet...
I'll start, but I've caught very few fish this month other than some small crappie.
I have put out some structure for habitat though. Still need to add brush to the pile of concrete tubes to finish it off. And if things work out I'll be adding PK Shrimp and Scuds to the pond this spring.
Took the kids out for a while today. Mixed bag of crappie, bluegill and bass.
We found'm today at the ranch, tossed a few big females back and some little guys too.
Saw five "buzzards" workin the wind.
Holy smokes. That's a haul right there. I am jealous
A friend of ours caught around 150 crappie today at QSR. My dad renewed and has been out several times.
Been cleaning up on the channel cats at the Montgomery County State Fishing Lake. Kept a couple of 5 pounders to fry up!
I'm having Crappie for supper tonight. I went to a little pound that my brother and I stocked about 35 years ago on Friday afternoon. I brought home 12 Crappie for the pan.
I am doing my best to follow my doctor's advice. At my annual physical she suggested I eat fewer Carbs and replace them with meat. I told her it sounds like you are telling me to hunt and fish more. She said that could work.
My BIL sent me this pic today. He caught it this afternoon
His hand is gonna stink ;?)
My youngest son went out for a little bit today and wasn't having any luck. So he put on a top water plug and started killing them.
Not sure what it is. I thought it was a shad. He was a Milford
I take back my mooneye guess and switch to goldeye.
Very nice KsRancher! Glad he figured them out!
Dad sent me this last night, ever seen one so dark?
I’ve caught a few that dark, but not many. Wife and I went out for some equinox fishing to 35 acre water shed fishing yesterday. Male crappie were close to the banks, but slow, and most were in 8” to 10” range. Did manage to land a couple of 14” females from deeper out, eggs not fully developed yet. Water temp averaged 59 degrees.
That is a beautiful crappie!
Yes we have back when Tuttle was young. Mid sixties when Tuttle had some timber left we would get off work and take the boat and bring 100 to clean by dark. Had to learn about the fillett. Where we were raised it was just muddy bullheads and channells. First time my dad watched me fillett was not good "Throwing away all that meat".
Caught some SLABS this afternoon!
Well done. I hope to get out tomorrow. I filled my turkey tag yesterday with a tom that had 1.5 inch spurs. That removed the turkey tag conflict.
I had little luck Sunday afternoon. I have been catching quite a few Crappie. These are five for the pan. My Brittany likes to keep an eye on them.
Good lookin dog Lee, and some nice crappie, enjoy!
Home from 4days on Lake Fork, trying to get my Dad a "bucket list" big LGmouth. Weather really screwed up the bite, but we caught a few. My brother with a 4-5# here, I lost a big fish at the boat Sat morning...guessing 8-10#, and Dad only caught one dink.
It's a neat lake, but with the high water, and at least two tournaments going on, fishing was tough. Still a good time with the "boys".
Sounds like a great time!
Fish pics can be deceiving…I would have guessed the one your brother is holding up would have weighed more.
Yeah, "pushed'm out" Dave ;)
