When will it end !
Pennsylvania

Was surfing you tube looking at the Vegas shoot when I saw two videos that are very disturbing to me. "The best arrow rifle on Amazon" more powerful than any crossbow and the Raven crossbow with electric drive cocking system. I certainly hope that as an organization we do everything in our power to keep these two non archery weapons from infiltrateing our archery seasons witch I'm sure they will try to do if not already.
Doug, as it stands now, they don't qualify to be a legal weapon in Pennsylvania. But, if they give the commissioner's trips, equipment and CASH, and no clambering for there inclusion, anything is possible. Oh snap, that already happened. My bad. Carry on.
For what its worth, I would oppose weapons that use compressed air, springs, etc... to propel arrows in archery seasons. The energy that propels arrows should be from drawn limbs or limbs/cams. A conversation can be had about their inclusion in firearms seasons, though.
It does not even belong in gun season.
Wasn't it the our state congress that made crossbows legal in the first place? All we have to do is get the ones who will support us elected, then get them to do what we want on the issues. Imagine that.
"It does not even belong in gun season."
Air rifles are already legal for some game. The air arrow rifle is just a air rifle. If it is humane, and most would agree that a broadhead tipped arrow at a reasonable speed is quite efficient at killing, why not...............
Most don’t believe that anything with a safety, trigger and scope should be allowed in archery season. But, when xgun manufacturers buy the politicians, you get what we have, now!
This name ring a bell. Rep Robert Godshall
"Most don’t believe that anything with a safety, trigger and scope should be allowed in archery season."
We lost this battle a long time ago, still stings for some, has divided many. Not a fan, but the archers lost this one, Pandora will not return to her bottle.
Don’t you mean “Lucifer”, Ed?! ;-)
Eventually they will be legal and no doubt grouped into archery season!
Going to rename it "arrow season" and include them. )c:

Negative Ghostrider. Somehing about a camels nose and a tent come to mind.
Hey, a few out of town trips, greasing the PGC, back room deals and a healthy influx of $ and anything is possible with them. No clamoring or wildlife input needed, just another pay off, move on, nothing to see here.
IMO the arrow rifle shouldn't be allowed in any season period.
If it has a shaft, that will be exactly what the archers In Pennsylvania will get, and right quickly.
Anyone that chooses to use a arrow rifle is not a archer or bow hunter in my book.
While that is true, this same kind of thing has happened before. And it was not a needed, asked for weapon either. The mfg's got their hooks into the PGC, the rest is history.
Its about the almighty $$$ and putting as many people in the woods as possible. To make it as easy as possible so people don't have to work at it. It truly diminishes what archery and being a bowhunter is supposed to be.
Red Lion, you’re exactly right, and I’ll go one step further and include crossbow users. The politicians and the PGC has pimped out bow season to the highest bidder and the wannabe’s! Bow hunting was never about “how far” but “ how close”.
"It truly diminishes what archery and being a bowhunter is supposed to be."
Like the compound and crossbow does?
Perspective is still a thing.
Jeff, not even close comparing compounds to xbows. I'm not even going to mention the differences of advantageous and disadvantages. I'm sure you already know.
Jeff, when a mfg advertisement is about 100 yard shots, and not about ethics, with a scope by the way my perspective changes.
I know this is a dumb question but I'm not up on all the politics on who makes the decisions on these issues. I mean what weapons can and can not be used.
No dumb questions. Not everyone knows everything. Anyway the Game Commission didn't make xbow legal. It was the politicians, mainly Robert Godshall.
I'm sure he didn't make them legal because he hated bowhunters, but he did hate us. He made them legal because they were like a gun and easy to shoot, taking 90% of hand drawn skill out of the equation.
Once again I'm asking because I don't know. Why would politicians be making that decision and not the game commission. Why did hate the UBP.
Godshall, hated bowhunting. He said he aways found dead deer with arrows sticking out of them on his property.
He hated us because we UBP worked very hard to get the archery season past October and that paissed him off, BIG TIME!! So after the xbow industry Lobby him big time. It was said that they took him on hunting trips with xbows.
So he wrote law that the game commission could not distinguish a difference between hand drawn and xbows , making them legal in all of archery season.
How is that possible. It seems obvious to me and millions of others what the difference is. It make me wonder, then what really is the purpose of the game commission other than inforcsing laws that politicians make. I guess I thought wrong that they make the decisions.
In my opinion the reason Politicians keep their hands in everything and even stuff they know nothing about.
Is because it's in "their" ($) best interest.
Like in many things....................it’s all about “control!” : (
