On my way to work this morning a friend called to chat. One of the things he told me was about a senator or two that say the GC owns to much land. I goggled it and here what I came up with in the link. Click on the link and read. Ed

Some notable and idiotic quotes by two of our senators:

"...if you think about government ownership of all property, that’s called communism,"

“The Game Commission owns more land than the entire state of Delaware,"

It's a few percent and Delaware is a tiny state.

I saw this and a discussion on a FaceBook page and the ignorance of most people is astounding. They don't know who owns the land, how it is paid for, they know nothing about P-R, they don't know the PGC is capped at paying $400 and acre and most of the land comes through conservancies or donations.

I worked with state government and had regular dealings with the legislature. There are some good people there but there are also a lot that aren't friendly to hunting and it goes across the aisle.

This is one discussion that the UBP and other hunting organizations should get together and be involved in.

I thought the land that was purchased was paid for by hunters dollars thru license sales and equipment that we buy.

That is true, however it is also funded by mineral and natural gas, tree harvesting as well. The revenue from this is used to purchase more lands. However, the amount they should own, should be greatly increased because Bambi huggers are buying the rest up.

The PGC can pay $400 an acre but they can also get permission to add another $400 an acre from P-R funds allocated to the state.
