I was once given a hand grenade (clearly an un loaded one) which I had to carry the rest of the season due to having missed a deer during gun season, for example. Had to wear it on a rope necklace per the order of the "older guys" (ha ha ha ha - 45-60 year olds ha ha ha - NOT old).
But the best ever, was a buddy who shared a bunch of stands with his friend (both Mass Wildlife employees) on a chunk of private. They had much success from those trees over the years. Well, one time, the other guy blew it on a nice buck, and some how hit a 8 inch wide tree, like 12 feet off the ground, instead of the deer. So, like a very, very good buddy, my friend goes with his climber, after having made a plaque with the guys name and date that he missed the deer, and climbed the tree. He then attached the plaque to the tree, just above the arrow... Which he chose NOT to take out of the tree.
So for years after, when either of them hunted that tree, they were looking at a great memorial of that occasion.
Frigging brutally buddy hilarious!
How about you folks, any good buddy stories from hunting?
