If you were to have a wolf trot by while turkey hunting are they legal to shoot? If so, would you shoot?

In kansas it's illegal to shoot anything that doesn't have a season.Armadillos even require a hunting license but you can shoot year round

You can shoot if you think you're in danger.

In the rule book it used to list everything that had a open season and what license you had to have.

I remember when they made it illegal to shoot a mt lion, even though KDWP said there were none in the state.

I'll shoot whatever I want. In ten years it will be legal anyway. Funny you ask that though, I didn't know there were two confirmed wolves killed in Kansas until I looked it up the other day after a friend told me.

Found it in the regs.

Wolves in Kansas are classified as endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act and may not be killed except when there is an actual threat to human safety. Kansas provisions allowing the killing of wildlife to protect personal property such as livestock are not an exemption to that law. If you believe a wolf is threatening, attacking or killing pets or livestock, protect all evidence and contact the KDWP Furbearer Biologist in the Emporia Research and Survey Office at (620) 342-0658 or report the sighting at the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this page. Be sure to leave your contact information for someone to follow up with you.

If wolves are killing deer that I eat that could eventually put me in danger of starving. Wouldn’t that mean I need to plan for the future and start killing wolves for my safety?
