Anyone else get this Joke: MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and County Deer Advisory Councils are seeking public input to prepare for the 2024 deer season

Yep, and whatever we say, they'll do. What was the name of this thread?

Bow Crazy's Link
Link for the survey above. I am a supporter of CDACs. I know there have been issues in Ashland and other counties, but ours in Monroe County seems to be very good. They didn't vote the way I would have liked, but at least I know they discussed it and reviewed input from everyone. One of the issues they deal with is little participation in the process. If there is little input from hunters, recommendations are usually easier to make. I would encourage you to take part in the survey and speak up at the meeting if you are passionate enough. BC

BC your recommendations has all been done and then some, Bayfield Counties CDAC is a joke.

5 years in a row i spoke to the clark county forest area cdac committee, ! Expressing that deer numbers were dropping yearly, mostly because of wolves, one person told me it was because of old mature forest, this is silly because clark county has been mostly clear cutting the vast majority of there public lands the past 15 to 20 years, it looks like a war zone, Others told me no wolves in area, I hear them many nights while sitting by campfire, one night we heard more than a dozen in 3 different directions, dirt roads and trails are loaded with tracks, every yerar they deny what i am saying, then i find out, NOBODY ON CDAC COMMITTEE lives or hunts in the forested area ????? YUP CDACS WORK ALRIGHT

Like them or not, this is about the only way hunters have of attempting to have some input.

Bayfield County as of yesterday filled an empty seat on the CDAC board: The other delegate seat was won by a student that lived here for a couple months and acted like she was running for prom queen.

The crowd was over 50% students, professors, and tree huggers

"The crowd was over 50% students, professors, and tree huggers." I do not doubt that but it certainly shows why hunters need to attend. We cannot limit their access so the only way to correct that skewed percentage is with more pro-hunters in attendance.

From: MjF

It was a record crowd, just need, like you said more pro-hunters. I really don’t think the majority of the local hunters even know what the CDAC is.

From: RutnStrut

CDAC's are just a bone thrown to hunters to make them feel like they have a voice. We need a pro hunter state org and a lobbyist. You have to play the same way the other players in the game are. Nothing will change for the better without doing it this way. It sucks. But that's how it's done now.

From: CaptMike
10-Apr-24
Rut, I do not disagree with you. We do need a state lobbyist who operates only on hunters behalf. Yet, there is a reason the antis are crowding those hearings and it is because they do feel they might get some thing. We need to do the same.

10-Apr-24
None of this matters, I am going to wait for the 2024 report from hunters after the gun season.

Missouribreaks… we don’t really care what you are going to do.

11-Apr-24
I dont see many lining up or signing up to beg for a WI deer hunt , bow or gun . Seems ridiculous in 2024 that you have to tip toe around and act like what it takes to have a good hunt is complicated.

12-Apr-24
I plan to hunt deer where there are plenty of deer to hunt. Never too late to make changes to your plan. The wolf lovers and wolves are here to stay.

Hunters have and always will be a reactive bunch rather than be proactive.

Liberal/communist’s use the playbook time after time. Make claims true or not. (Mostly not) forcing pro hunting groups to spend big money fighting these claims. Before one is settled there is two more claims waiting putting a heavy financial strain on if not bankrupting these organizations.

Prime example is what they’re doing to Trump keeping him tied up in the courts with one frivolous claim after another. This is the same they’re doing to hunting groups. They don’t go after the whole steak all at once. They just take bites until the steak is gone.

12-Apr-24
I agree, the dems have a fantastic multifaceted long game. Including, having actual hunters and PETA vote for them and their anti hunting agenda. Yes, even hunters have joined PETA and HSUS in their campaign against hunting.

From: CaptMike
13-Apr-24
DT, you are spot on. It it is death by a thousand cuts. And like Mo notes, most, if not all of us know a hunter who is a gun owner yet supports democrats. Really makes you scratch your head trying to understand their train of thought.

From: Trickle rut
15-Apr-24
What they are doing to Trump? If you step off the line long enough to see what's happening it's that Trump is the greatest gift the Democrats ever had.

From: CaptMike
15-Apr-24
I disagree. A media that can so easily control a large group of unthinking voters is a much greater gift to democrats.

From: Trickle rut
16-Apr-24
Maybe Mike. But he sure is driving some Republicans and independents away. Right into the Dems arms.

16-Apr-24
Trump has some faults for sure, but being an anti hunter is not one of them. In a way, reminds me of uncle Ted.

From: Bow Crazy

It would be interested to hear from what others have experienced in their counties. From the above comments: Ashland, Bayfield and Clark Counties have issues. What about others? Monroe County's CDAC is made up of 8 hunters for sure, out of the remaining 4 one is the area Game Warden, the other 3 I don't know about. It's hard to argue with their recommendations, not always what I think is best. MC is in west central Wisconsin. BC

"I disagree. A media that can so easily control a large group of unthinking voters is a much greater gift to democrats."

That's a big one Capt, the media people know they can run the vote on anything for there personal agenda. Sad thing, people believe what they see and change or vote because of it.

From: CaptMike
16-Apr-24
"But he sure is driving some Republicans and independents away." I do not believe that he chases any true republican away. No half-conscious person who claims to be republican could ever support current day lib/dems and the crap they spew. Yes, he may push away some independents (who are very important) but those independents he might alienate are most likely not even on the fence, but rather leaning toward the commie side anyways.

For the first time since County Deer Advisory Committees (CDACs) were established, Washington County failed to have a quorum with just two members present, so no vote was taken for 2024 deer season recommendations for the county. Instead, the recommendations from last year were carried over for this year

Keep up the Good Job
