Southeast elk report: For Bowhunters headed to Idaho units 66, 66A, 72, and 76 this season, here's the heads up; All water levels are up so there should be running water everywhere. Underground water flowing from Palisades Reservoir is feeding natural springs throughout units 66, 66A, 72 and 76. For your best bet at filling your tag, try unit 66 (Poker Peak area) (West ridge 4,12,14,15,33, off of road 086 above Grays Lake); unit 66A (Monte Cristo Mine area South of road 87 and East of Grays Lake); (Tincup Creek area 23,25,26); unit 72 (Hot Springs and Perkins Ranch areas); unit 76 (Diamond Flat area). Hunters have been known to take 6x6 bulls and good size cows out of these areas. The elk like the hidden natural springs for their isolation away from hunting pressure. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
