Just a quick hint: Clamming fills the freezer and the belly in the off season. Easier than fishing and you don't need a boat! I put the steamers in my belly right away.... and the quahogs get made to chowder and stuffies for the freezer.

When you compare shellfish regs for MA and RI it’s night and day. Here in MA the town somehow regulates shell fishing? That’s messed up. What if Foxboro sold their own sunfish license or Framingham outlawed turkey hunting? I think clamming is awesome but the regs are insane.

i am with you, Arrownoob! I pay $150is for my duxbury license... (non resident) for a 16 week season and can pull 1.5 gallons of clams per week... as long as I pull clams, the cost is worth it.... it is expensive though ... on the flip side, I do believe they see the clam beds which is a cost to them... and I guess a managed resource for them...

We use to clam in RI, those were the days. Nothing better than some fresh cherry stones with horse radish or hot sauce

I disagree on the easier than fishing comment. The first and only time I clammed I slit my finger open on a shell and got sunburn so bad my back was all huge blisters.

Looks fun. Steam em?

MAPA - drove through your fine state this weekend - can you clam the coast?

Yes Will! No license needed but still need to stay within regs of size etc. west side of Oregon inlet is more quahog clams (larger ones) and east side is more variation in sizes from what I can tell online etc. I think it’s 100/person per day or 200/vessel if your on a boat. Oysters are similar and are HUGE down here. The amount of oysters people buy is insane.
