Just received and completed a KDWP deer survey for 2023. In the comments section, I recommended, no non res mule deer tags, large reduction in resident mule deer tags, only 3x3 or larger bucks to be legal. On whitetails, no change in resident tags, and substantial reduction in non res tags and raise the cost of non res tags to offset the revenue from fewer non res tags.

I think we are closer to OTC non resident tags than we are to a substantial reduction.

Should have mentioned the abuse of buying Lifetime Licenses.

I’m a previous resident and now a non res but don’t have a lifetime license. What is the abuse?

Too bad.

I completed my survey. My main suggestion was to ban baiting.

Thanks Dale for the honest feedback. From Town towards you parents homestead over to The Blakely homestead and back north I use to see close to 75 deer on a regular bases. Saw three does all pheasant season west of 283 South to The Grasslands. It is bad, real bad if you know what it use to be.

Matte, I was home last week for three days. The wheat crop was headed toward a total loss due to lack of rain. I saw a group of four muley does, one whitetail doe, and one rooster, and I spent a lot of time roaming the area. It’s a sad disaster.

They need to stop mule deer hunting and pronghorn hunting altogether. Anybody that disagrees with this doesn't realize how small their range has shrunk to.

Non resident already 550 dollars to hunt. That is considerable funding which goes to lease WIHA land. If you remove non resident hunters, sure you will have less hunting pressure on land, however, you will have less money to fund WIHA program. Course, if you can get less hunters using outfitters then maybe there won't be a business for outfitters to lease land and prices will come down. This is best case dream scenario I guess in your minds. Maybe keep the tags where they are cost wise out of state at 550 which might be highest in nation and reduce number allotted. Bump up in state tag cost 20 bucks or so to help offset revenue. Hope that even with less WIHA lands or KDWP funding that less hunters to lease or use outfitters will lower the lease cost or even go back to permission. However, unlikely as a person that has received X dollars for hunting rights, will want to continue getting X dollars. We are all human right? Who wants less money or offers something for free when taxes and cost of living go up every year and they are accustom to the income?

Maybe just unelect people in the legislature that see wildlife with dollar signs. Like Ken Corbett?
