This past weekend it hit 80 degrees in Chicago and as a result the hoodrats came out of hibernation and there were 37 shootings with 4 fatalities.

The first three months resulted in a record LOW number of shootings, but that was with 80" of snowfall and record sub-zero cold.

Gonna be a hot time in Chi-Town this summer!

Who saw this coming a few weeks ago when others were touting the new CPL.

It will take a few years before the citizens carrying can really make a difference.

The first CC permits only went out about a month or so ago. It's going to take time, and in a sh*thole like Chicago it'll probably make little difference.

Where you'll see it decline is in the other parts of Illinois and in sex/assault incidences against women. I know some women here who now carry and believe me they are ready to use it if they have to.

The only way to stop gang violence is to prosecute under the rico statute. One gang member shoots another gang's member in a drug deal gone bad prosecute both gangs.

In order to measure the real impact you would 1st need to know the crime rate for crime on crime. Meaning a thief rips off a thief or a drug dealer rips off a drug dealer or a banger kills another banger etc... If most of the crimes are between the bad guys then a CC for the good guys will make no difference.

Now if 30% of the crimes are against law abiding citizens and they are done face to face when they are committed then carrying a weapon will help with that.

IMO if just one innocent life is saved because of the CC then I am ALLL for it.

Good point Hammer. That's why I said that in a place like Chicago it'll probably make very little difference because the vast majority of shootings are crime on crime, and the rest are "collateral damage" of civilians caught in gang crossfire.

They should take all the gangs and put them in one of the large, abandoned old stone quarry pits that dot the Chicago area and then give them all the arms and ammo they want. When they get done shooting each other then burn their bodies and get another group in there. As long as innocent bystanders aren't being shot and it's just gangbangers killing each other then I could care less.

CHICAGO – Police accuse a Chicago man of pulling out a submachine gun in a convenience store because he didn't want to pay a 22-cent tax on a two-liter bottle of soda.

A Cook County judge ordered 36-year-old Nahshon Shelton held without bail after the Sunday afternoon incident. Shelton is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and having an invalid Firearm Owner's Identification card.

Prosecutors say Shelton pulled out a blue-steel Intratec .22-caliber submachine gun and threatened to kill everyone. Authorities say he told police it "is my neighborhood, I'm tax exempt."

The Chicago Sun-Times reports prosecutors say Shelton's gun had eight live rounds in one magazine, five live rounds in another magazine and one in the chamber.

Sounds like Selton's running into the same ammo shortage problem that a lot of us are having. :^)

"Lot's of info at the link. No one really believes crime is going down anywhere anyhow...least of all Chicago."

Well hey now, they ARE Democrats and from Obama's home city to boot, which means if nothing else they will LIE their souls away to achieve their ends, which is exactly what they've done..

Really now, after what's transpired over the past 6 years does ANYONE with an I.Q. a point or so over a turnip's actually BELIEVE anything they say anymore??

Crime DID go down over the past 3 months...because Chicago was armpit deep in snow and it was colder than a welldigger's a$$. The hoodrat's don't function in that kind of weather. But they're waking up now. It's gonna be a real shoot-'em-up here in short order.

I never understood why a Republican or Conservative candidate seldom ever campaigns in some of the inner city areas. I am not referring to the hood or gang hang outs where their safety is literally on the line but, the less violent areas where you could meet and talk with the residents.

There are so many liberal policies which for decades, have hurt the inner cities. If a non-liberal candidate was able to persuade a few percentage of the residents that there is a better way, the benefit would reach far beyond the politics and election cycle.

It is a complicated mess, I know.

It is a waste of their time and more importantly their $$$$$. They will never win, too many dead Dems voting.

On a side note, there was an attempted robbery in the suburban town of Palos Heights. The homeowner had won some money at a casino and was possibly followed home. What I found interesting was a neighbor's reaction, "This kind of thing never happens around here".......WAKE UP honey. There will be more of it as soon as the thugs realize there's $$$$ to be made and you are unarmed.

Chicago Magazine recently published an article (link by trublucolo above) claiming that the supposed decrease in crime was just fudging the numbers by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.

Now this quote from the superintendent “If you don’t go to jail for gun possession, you don’t learn not to carry a gun. If there’s no consequence for bad behavior, you don’t learn not to carry a gun,”

They are advocating for stricter gun control and more jail time for gun offenders.

How about more jail time for crooked politicians?

The big question is where the H#*L did he find the .22 ammo????
