Will be some great hockey. Go Av's!
Go Flyers! They're going to have a rough go against the Rangers in the first round but I don't see anybody beating Boston this year.
We'll talk after the first round...Hate to say it, but I just don't trust my Blues to show up...at least we don't have to face LA right out of the shute...8^)
I'm rooting for the Red Wings to be a Cinderella Story
Toews and Kane back in the lineup against St. Louis. Hope they are healthy enough to take the Hawks all the way to the Cup!!
X2 Hammer! Go Wings, if we can get by Boston.... who knows? We beat them 3 outta 4 this season, I believe. Hey wouldn't a Wings/Avs final be something??
Trub,
You are a very funny guy. I got them all right but two and the point spreads so I did ok.
However..... Bet against the Wings.
Wait you mean you knew "I"was in trouble when I did that and not you were in trouble right?
lol..
Hey it was wishful thinking on my part and Denver's loss was all Manning's fault ya know. lol
Hey Ave fans. Hope you happy this morn you lucky bastages!
Let's go Bruins!! I'll be at the game Easter Sunday afternoon, Bruins and Red Wings. Should be a great series.
The Sharks CRUSHED the Kings last night, running out to a 5-0 lead after two periods.
I think the Blues and the Hawks are the only teams who played two games last night...3 OT's and the winning goal in the last few minutes of the 3rd OT...What a fight!
Go Blues!!!
Seems I am going to have to visit friends or go to the local sports bar to even watch an Av's/Wild game.
The wife insists on watching recording of the Rockies when the game is on. I could record them too but what fun would that be.
Go Av's!
Redwings win game one baby!
Don't get to confident Hammer, Bruins are just warming up. Tremendous game though. I think they are the two most evenly matched teams in this playoff. Hang on we're coming back for more tomorrow at 3pm and I'll be there. Can't wait!
Even though I wish the Red Wings would NEVER win another game it would be great to see the Av's clobber them in the finals. That said I do have huge respect for Mike Babcock (good SK boy and hunter), it is a crime he has never won coach of the year. Back to back Olympic gold as Canada men's coach also. But I digress: Go Av's!
How many straight years have the wings made the playoffs now?
At least 1 Detroit team usually pretty good
Isn't that a record?
I think the wings will beat the bruins but I have no confidence in them winning the cup this year.
Woohoo! Not luck this time. Another great night for McKinnon. Monday night should be a good one. GO AVS.
Your goalie saved you. Pretty even game. Avs are capitalizing on opportunities.
Not sure about the phantom cross check call after the off sides whistle blew.
18 year old rookie McKinnon has tied an NHL record with 7 points in (his first) 2 NHL playoff games. Amazing talent.
Redwings got STOMPED.
Maybe next game they will get it together.
Yeah, Bruins were definitely back on their game. They're going to be hard to beat if they bring that to Detroit. I was 19 rows up, awesome seats.
Saw some of the Montreal/Lightening game later. Tampa got ripped on that no goal. Should have been a tie game at that point. Too bad.
Wow, are the Sharks ever dominating the Kings! 6-3 in Game One, then 7-2 last night as San Jose scored seven unanswered goals in the last two periods.
When these teams played each other in the playoffs last year the Sharks scored ten goals on Jonathon Quick in seven games. In this series, they've scored twelve goals on him in five PERIODS!
Hopefully Sunday's Wings/Bruins game will have been the Wings one soft game of the series. The Bruins took it to them. The youngsters on the Wings were bound to have at least one tough night. With any luck they can re-group and get their speed game back at The Joe! Rob Nye, wouldn't it be great to see a Wings/Avs finals? Could be the start of an all new "old" rivalry. Lots of talented kids on both squads!
McKinnon and the Avs better keep their heads up tonight
Jus sayin
go Wild!
The State of Hockey is fired up!
Thanks Tru? Most be the low elevation
Love it! every game!
The Quest for the cup is the best!
Watching hawks/blues and stars/ducks
The Wild got nothing but a bunch of cheap shot artists. Pretty sickening when you have to go after another professional athlete with only an intent to injure. Hopefully Cooke gets suspended for the season. Although Saturday will be his last game and I'll be there to watch it.
show me the proof it was intent to injure?
Johnson punching Parise in the back of the head 5 times...is that intent to injure? no penalty called either BTW.
Its a contact sport and its a damn shame Berrie got hurt.
Yeah, Cooke has never been accused of intending to injure. LOL. He's a piece of @#$%. I think the NHL hearing being conducted with Cooke is going to show proof it was intent to injure. Hopefully his suspension goes into next year as the Wild only have 2 games left anyway. If he doesn't get suspended McLeod will take care of him.
well the Avs better show up on Thursday as they forgot to last night. what an azz kicking!
Varlamov better keep standing on his head, or it doesn't look good if that is the effort the Avs put out. I see why you are angry, I would be too.
Avs got buried shots on goal. What was it, like 47 to 20 something. Avs still almost won it the last few seconds. Seems to be a habit with them.
Knee to knee injury by Cooke on Barrie looked a little intentional, but Barrie had his left skate dragging way out there. Kind of hard to tell if it was intentional but you know Cooke has that reputation. Let the league decide.
Too bad we will lose our best offensive defensemen for the rest of the playoffs, that's going to hurt, especially on the PP.
That was record 44 shots on goal for the Wild in regulation. If they can't get some scoring going, they won't be around much longer. Especially if Varlamov keeps it up.
Great goalie play on both ends last night.
Go Avs!
Big night for the Bruins. Shutout the Wings 3-0! Great game, came out strong and never let up.
San Jose needed overtime to beat LA last night, but they did and took a 3-0 lead!
Cooke will be gone for a long time I think, really shocked no one has seriously cleaned his clock, famous cheap shot guy. Back in the good old days he would never get away with the crap he pulls. The Wild played great but were very lucky that a penalty was not called the last 2 minutes of that game when one of their players shot the puck over the glass. Av's were swarming and a powerplay would very likely have scored. I never thought it would be a sweep but Av's will win the series.
I hate to admit it but the Wings season may be over in a hurry if they can't figure out how to get their offense going. The Bruins looked like the puck possession team last night!
haven't scored yet on a power play, Rob. not likely they would have scored.
Hawks looking to tie the series tonight. The boys in front of Crawford need to pick it up a bit to stay in this series.
Go Leafs!!!!!..........all the way to the golf course again....... :(
Norseman,
Do you really need someone to "show me the proof it was intent to injure?" Here's the guy you're defending's rap sheet of suspensions and dirty penalties. I can appreciate someone being passionate about their team but come on man. He'd never play for Roy.

21. Feb. 16, 2008: Delivers blindside hit on Edmonton’s Mathieu Roy.
Man! Gotta love those Blue Jackets. With 30 seconds left in the game they tie it and then pull out a win in overtime. I'm a die hard Bruins fan but I've been enjoying that series. Great hockey!
Yeah Roy only wants players that punch an unprotected opponent in the back of the head repeatedly after the whistle, then call another guys play "disgusting".
C'mon man...really?
I am glad Cooke is out 7 games. He's is a giant tool.
Any player that purposely tries to hurt a player with an illegal hit should sit out 1 year, 2nd offense 2 years and 3rd offense should be a lifetime ban from the sport.
I hope someone gets revenge on the jackass! Seems if they do it will only cost them 7 games so it is worth it right?
Quinn, you might have done better without the list. I only see a couple listed that I would possibly agree could be considered intentional dirty play. Elbows? everybody uses their elbows. tripping, tripping, cross checking? Just seems like a typical Saturday night game from the old days. Defenitely a kinder gentler NHL these days.
Roy held his own in the dirty player category.
He ended a guys career with an illegal hit to the head?
Why should he still be able to play then?
We need to clean up sports. Playing hard and within thee rules is one thing but when you repeatedly step out to the point that it ends another's career then yours should end as well!
BC - Yep, Blue Jackets/Penguin's now tied up going into game5... I forgot to watch the game last night, but won't miss the next one...8^)
They looked good Zbone. Wasn't an easy win but they really earned that one.
Here's to a good "clean" injury free game tonight! skol! Go Wild!
stick to the back of the head.....after the whistle
he plays for Roy too!
intense ending
6 on 4 for 2.....Nada!
Norseman,
I'll give credit where credit is deserved. Wild deserved the win tonight. Should be an exciting finish to the series.
Man, what a game! Bruins didn't even show up in the first and went down 2-0. Got their legs in the second and third to tie it. Won in overtime. Awesome comeback!
Yeah, my Av's looked like they were on vacation. Wild have been working hard, hope for a good effort back at our own barn in Denver.
Redwings suck! I can't BELIEVE they lost that game. I am depressed my Redwings are all but finished for this year
Bruins are a great team.
Paul, was that an incredible finish or what! I can only imagine how good these guys might be in a year or two.
I was giving up hope past midway through the 3rd period. The cardiac kids just didn't give up.
Me thinks it will go to game 7. Hope I'm wrong.
The last two games in Minnesota were not representative of how they have played all season. Except for some short periods, they skated their azz off last night.
I think the Av's will play their best road game of the season and finish off the series next game. Hopefully without the need for last-minute comeback, wow you can never count them out.
Big game for the Hawks today. Game 6 in a 3-2 series, Hawks on top. Gonna be another nail biter!
Win do to a no holding call with an empty net.
Avs did play better. Should be great game 6!
Well the Blues can get Tee-Times.
After having the league's best record going into the final two weeks of the season, they finished 0-6, and now get tossed 4 games to 2 by the 'Hawks.
Chicago's Toews is an absolutely amazing hockey player, always steps up when the pressure is on. Great leader of that team.
The Hawks needed some of those sticks to come alive to win that game. Sharp hadn't done anything in the series, he finally scored. Toews and Kane picked it up late in the series to get their team to the next round. Pretty sweet!!
the Avalanche 5th line also missed this on the over time goal.
Btw...why were the fans booing Suter everytime he got the puck on Saturday, did I miss something?
Because he is too good maybe? I hope Patrick tells the boys to skate right at the linesmen so they gotta dodge every time they enter Minny's zone! Worked well last game, lol. GO AV'S!!
Here's to a good game, Rob! Best thing of this cold rainy day in Minny!
Norseman, you ned another farm ore two on that photo. The photo you are showing is not necessarily off side. depends on where that players back foot is when the puck crosses the line.
Different game when you don't have The doofuss Brad Meier and Kelly Sutherlind ref'n
go Wild!
Foot has to be down. NO WAY it gets down in time. Linesman is right there. The hold on the empty net is far worse though
I will say having Duchene back scares the chit out of me. He is smooth down by the net.
Kings sharks going to 7 too. Great Haugky, eh?
Why can't we go straight to the Bruins and Black Hawks, and not waste time with these other wannabes?
Norseman, would he have somehow gotten his foot down if the photo showed the white shirts with the puck? :)
There are 3 reasons the Avalanche are still in the playoffs and it none of them are the refs. They are (in no particular order):
Roy - aggressive coaching style.
Varlamov - if our Wild could score on breakaways and point-break shots, they would have won the series in 5.
MacKinnon - I was still working on pubic hair at 18...
It has been a really good series.
yeah...Varlomov is a brick wall!
Amoebus, there are 4 reasons the Avalanche are still in the playoffs; the 3 that you listed and #4, they haven't played the Blackhawks.
I was watching the last game or two of the Chicago/St. Louis series. It was very polite - no cheap knee-to-knee shots on the best defensemen. No face-mashing in front of the goalie after every held puck. A player could go end-to-end and nobody would touch him. I believe that they even played classical music whenever someone scored a goal.
The best moment I have seen in these playoffs was when some little Detroit guy was trying to get in a fight with Boston's Chara. It looked like a WWE match where Andre the Giant would just hold his arm out on the guys forehead and laugh when the little guys arms didn't reach.
Don't have a great warm fuzzy feeling about tonight. I feel the Wild dropped the pooch with chances on closing this series out early.
IF the Wild pull out the upset it will be from true grit and determination.
with that said...GO WILD!! It has been a very entertaining series.
Bet ya got a warm fuzzy now Norse..
WILD...
Oh yeah!
Great series
beat da Hawks!
Great hockey last night, huh boys. Sorry to see the Flyers go. I have buddies in PA so I was pulling for them. Tonight our big bad Bruins will take it to the Habs. Should be a good series. Go Bruins!!!
CRAP! Now our Wild have to lose to the Blackhawks so they can get on to their divine matchup with the Bruins...
The Wild haven't been very nice to Roy in their playoff appearances.
Secord Sux!
No bigger rivalry in the Day to us Minnesota hockey fans.

Boo hoo I am sad today. gotta give the wild credit, they played well and didn't give up. The Av's inexperience showed but they sure have a bright future, had a great season for a bunch of really young players. Hope the wild stomp the Blackhawks, Toews is a beauty but I despise that little assclown Kane, would cheer even for Montreal over that puke!
Well Matt Cooke will be back Game 4, We'll see what he can do ...J/k of course
Injuries and lack of depth on the 3 and 4 lines, hurt the Avs bad!
Playoff hockey...it doesn't take much to turn the tides one way or the other. Great series...the Central Division will be stacked and a force the next few years.
I hated to see the Flyers lose because they would have steamrolled the Pens, but I don't think anybody is getting through the Bruins either.
Not sure about the western conference but anticipate another Chicago win.
Canadiens v Bruins a tough game tonight. Heading to OT. More important the Wild in Chicago tomorrow night, Let's go HAWKS!!
My wife is beginning to hate this
"is hockey on again tonight?"
Lol
Tough lost in double OT for the Bruins. Not worried though. They played an awesome game. We like a challenge.
Price was unreal. Without him it would have been 10-3.
She wants to cuddle and watch the Hallmark Channel with me instead.
We compromised and Watched "Vikings" on the History channel instead....with clicking over to the Habs/Bruins game at commercial break. 8^)
she goes to bed early, so I got to watch the 2 overtimes....it's all good!
When my wife and I were first dating I went to her place and she was sitting alone, watching a hockey game. I proposed, she accepted but then I found out she was a Montreal fan after I already bought the ring or I would have bolted. Life really sucks around my house when the Habs are winning.

Rob, How did you become an avalanche fan? or were you a nordiques fan that migrated? I could see that being hell in a household, nordique and Hab fans....
A real nail biter too! Bruins have been a 3rd period team most of the season. They turned it on today when needed, coming from behind to win it. Go Bruins!!!
What's going on with NY? Penguins shut em down last two games. Hoping the Bruins make it happen tonight.
Old habits die hard...it warms my heart to see the Habs beat the Bruins.
Yeah but it ain't over till it's over. Great game (for the Habs). Game 4 next.....
Actually, I thought the Bruins out played them, but I grew up listening to the games on the radio when there were 6 teams, I used to root for Boston to Lose then, I guess I haven't grown out of it.
we got a series...baby!
go WILD!
The last two games for the Hawks were absolutely horrible. They didn't even play hockey, have no clue what the hell they were doing on the ice. It's a series alright but I don't see the Hawks having anything left in their bag-o-tricks to win this series. The last 2 games, they were flat outplayed!!
Never under estimate home ice advantage
I think Q is thinking too hard with his coaching
Cory Crawford is making a game of it!
Anyone but that little snotbag Kane! Despise that annoying mouthy hotdog.
Never thought I'd say this but...Go Rangers, beat the Habs!
The Hawks should have lost that game so many times over it is plane ridiculous. Oh well better to be lucky than good sometimes. On to the next round!
Don't rub it in Dale....I know! I Know!
CTCrow's Link
with carcillo and stepan out, it'll be interesting to see if the rangers lose any momentum.
i would like to see the kings vs. canadiens. the final matchup is going to be a blast regardless of what two teams get in.
Any team but the Hawks....yuk!
watched the Rangers/ Montreal game tonight, first game I was able to watch this playoff season. Rangers looked better than I have seen them look in many years.
So glad Montreal is out! Thank you Rangers, great series.
At least based on this game, the Rangers had more team speed, they beat Montreal to the majority of the loose pucks. Montreal got caught too many times on long shifts that kept them pinned in their zone. The Montreal goalie was tough, but there were quite a few instances where NY helped him out.
I went to bed thinking Chicago/NY. What an upset! Awesome comeback. Now we have an east coast/ west coast series. Ought to be a good one.
The Hawks loss was a heartbreaker!!! Can't believe after going up 2-0 they lost it. Congrats to LA!! It's gonna be a good Cup playoff! Not sure who to pull for, LA wins it then the Hawks lost to the champs, not too bad. If NY wins that puts them even lower on the totem pole. I suppose either way it will still be great hockey!
With the close records in all the conferences the teams are playing playoff type hockey already. Can't wait to see how it all shakes out. Bring on the playoffs! GO WILD!
Sorry Aves fans. 8)
Hey Hawks..... We're coming!
