"Democrat Alex Sink is opting out of Round 2 in the battle for the House seat in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Her decision comes a month after she narrowly lost to Republican David Jolly in a special election that offered early warning signs about her party’s vulnerabilities in the fall midterms.
Sink was considered a top recruit for the fall race, and Democrats had hoped the well-known state official and former gubernatorial candidate would run again for the seat. Party officials insisted that turnout would be higher in November than it was in March, which theoretically would help Sink catch and surpass Jolly."
Sink is a very reasonable dem, such as there is such a thing. She'd won a statewide office. She lost narrowly to Jolly, who was a horrible candidate, in the special election a few weeks ago.
But she's not stupid. She sees which way the wind's blowing and didn't want to become a three-time loser. (She also lost the FL governor race, narrowly, to Rick Scott in 2012.)
