The scope of Homeland Security is a very wide umbrella and unless someone of impecable integrity holds the office of Secretary, opportunity for abuse is ripe.
The fact that this position is held by a politician or his/her appointee, by definition would rule out everyone, thus the Dept itself should be abolished.
I trust no one.
PS. Where is DHS on the border crisis???? I am sure Jeh and then Sec Napolitano can change diapers too.
The Supreme Court (back in 90) ruled that these Checkpoints were probably an infringement on Fourth Amendment rights, (what...they can't decide)?
However the Supreme Court found that getting drunk drivers off the road and eliminating potential public safety risks was more important that the Fourth Amendment's protection against unreasonable search and seizure. Some states have had the sack to say bullshit, but most fall in line.
Eliminating potential public safety risks...why that could be applied to a lot of things, couldn't it?
Way to be Minnesota for one.. they don't allow it.
We have layed down and freely given up our Constitutional rights.
It will get worse..
