When I read the thread title I was expecting to see a picture of John Kerry but Ventura now takes the cake.
Sad day my friends sad day.
Oh yeah......Minnesota voters.
Like Spike I tried to give Jesse the benifit of the doubt but he has proven what he is and then some. He will never be welcome at another SEAL function I can tell that from what I see on facebook...some of my friends from fundraising for the Navy SEAL Foundation would like to see him dead or paralyzed it seems.
Interestingly all the legal pundits predicted his case was BS.....the jury system is not all the it is cracked up to be...
Poor Jesse. Even if he is right about the story, Kyle is about as sympathetic figure as can be scripted. To sue his widow for damages is just heaping more dung on his reputation. I mean that sincerely, the man is in a lose/lose bigger proposition. But, hey, I've already alluded to the RINO thing. :)
You certainly CANNOT say that for most all liberals and sadly many Republicans.
But that aside, I think Ventura is a scumbag. Not because he brought suit, but because he's proven his point and got his "honor" back but he STILL feels he has to deal a monetary death blow to his opponent's widow.
Where's his humanity?
In his own words, JV is not affiliated with ANY political party, even though he is willing to run as a Libertarian in 2016.
Secondly, JV sued Kyle, before his death only after Kyle refused to retract some apparently untrue statements. He did not sue Kyle's widow and kids. It is my understanding the "fully insured" estate of Kyle is responsible for the losses, NOT the family.
Odd that it is considered OK to defame someone from a group with such high moral standards. Neo cons seem to believe this is acceptable if done so by the military or it's current and former personnel.
If you want to blame someone, how about the Kyle estate lawyer who accepted the verdict of a less than unanimous jury.
Having said that, I would find it as difficult to vote for JV as a Democrat or Republicrat, in any circumstance. JV should donate the windfall directly to the Kyle family, wounded warriors or some such military family support groups. Short of that, I wouldn't have enough clothes pins.
Ventura is not a libertarian, he is an egomaniac.
That's in part why we need to adhere to the intent of the Constitution.
-Hopelessly (haplessly) wrong. Most libertarians I know are of the church going types. They're just old school constitutionalists - intellectually proficient enough to realize liberty is an objective standard and that to empower government to attack one is to empower government to run every life and every choice. Ergo the degraded condition we find ourselves.
God gives us free will to make choices and fail occasionally, with consequences! I don't need the state playing God. Talk about immoral.
Have you ever actually looked at the Libertarian party platform?
-Yes, by coercion. There is a huge difference between honest and dishonest rhetoric. When a libertarian says, "Leave me alone," he doesn't intend the government to post his lawn and shoot neighbors crossing the road. Lift the hood, sir. Please.
As for the platform, I am familiar. Suits me across the board except its stance on abortion. That's tragic but there isn't a party in the US who will tackle that issue. Looking for an anti-abortion party is a fool's errand. As much as it pains me.
Your query does evoke a realization for me, though. Most "libertarians" I know are really just disenfranchised conservatives. They don't ascribe to any party platform per se.
They followed the trial pretty closely on the sports radio stations in MN. Both sides had seals who claimed to see/not see the punch. The damning evidence seemed to be:
- JV (who is on blood-thinner) had no bruises the next 2-3 days - he was photographed many times.
- A video of CK proclaiming how much he hated JV was shown at the trial.
I am no fan of JV but this apparently showed the problems with elevating humans to hero status.
i was in Arizona during the Minnesota ventura years...I have always rightly or wrongly considered him a braggart and a blowhard. Which is irrelevant to the truth.
The fact that he was photographed many times the day after and shows no bruises is meaningful to me. Over the years i have been in more than a few fights. To be knocked down and have no signs the next day is a phenomena I have never experienced in myself or others.
To those who say he was picking on a poor widow... when the lawsuit was filed she was not yet a widow. If it never happened, Ventura was wronged.
I see the publisher will be omitting the alleged Ventura incident in all future publishing.
Another case of no clear winner...
Eventually there will be a real Seal around that is upset that he has not killed anything in awhile an in walks Jesse. Case closed
Of course you wouldn't.
JV is an azz and a blow hole though!
I would be saying the same thing. Dead only counts to the one that is dead. Too much stock is put in considering how the dead affect anything. Right is right wrong is wrong. Very simple
UDT counts as being a SEAL. Officially.
Chris Kyle could have just said: "Jesse, let me get this straight, you're suing me because you say I DID NOT punch you in the face and knock you out?, How about I just do that right here and now and maybe then you won't feel so slighted".
I am sorry Chris Kyle's family is going through this. Ventura should be ''real proud of himself '' ....
That is incorrect.
The Seals were in existence in 1967 for sure. They had two teams in Nha Be and the Mekong and I'm pretty sure they had two teams farther north. I'm positive about the 2 teams at Nha Be... I flew them on recon, a half dozen insertions and a couple extractions in the Rung Sak (sp) swamp towards Vung Tau.. . This was June 67 to Feb 68 time period.. They were great people .. have a few stories of course.. ;)
Ventura served active duty 1969 - 1973. He got a Vietnam Service medal while stationed in the Phillipines....(Being stationed in the Philippines doesn't mean he never set foot in Vietnam however.. Things like that happened. It's irrelevant and I have no idea.)
HA!!!! you don't know James Janos...do ya? that'll happen when pigs fly.
He has consistently shown his love of money. I would be amazed if he gave any of the money back (if he sees any).
