Conundrum Free people are not equal. Equal people are not free. "A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again." > The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing. Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America: 1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized. 2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government. 4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about. 6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about -yet they want America to be more like those other countries. Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century. Makes you wonder who is doing the math. These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment: 1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering... 2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it.....and Last but not least, 3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.
They provide a home for foster children. As a result, they are provided funds on an EBT card to pay for food, etc. for the foster children. She was using the EBT card in a grocery store and the man behind her in the checkout line was extremely rude and condescending.
There is a critical need for foster parents. Keeping these kids is often a thankless and expensive proposition.
I am one who says that able-bodied people should be expected to work, but sometimes things are not what they seem.
I have to say it but maybe your three ex wives should be your bill not mine.
You all can label me a a$$ for saying it but I worked 13 hours today and my sympathy bone is broken.
A bit testy aren't you. My point is simple.
"Did I not plan for retirement or a situation such as this? Sure did...and you can ask any of my 3 ex-wives what they did with the funds...I sure didn't get any of it."
You say this insinuating your money was given to your three ex wives that left you in the position you are in. Is it the burden of the tax payer to pay for your choice in wives? We make choices every day and must accept accountability for them. A true "tea" party mentality is to be free, free to succeed but also free to fail. Take away your chance to fail and you are not truly free. You are a slave to the one holding you up.
Good luck and you can keep your $.000017 unless you can convince the rest of the 148,000,000 in this country on the teat to pay me back also.
I read at least two 2nd amendment statements... that I'd fully agree with. And several others such as payouts to people who shouldn't even be in this country. Honestly a lot of good stuff and I read nothing such as "I've got mine and screw everyone else" in it.
Personal finances as well as bad financial/personal decisions should not be public government policy matters. I've made a bunch of very poor business decisions the last few years, a few were had me teetering on bankruptcy and not far from that edge now.... they are mine and mine alone. Your health... there are programs as well as assistance in many cases.... yours honestly I don't know.
But I don't think gadan deserves any blame for pointing out the elephant in the room. In fact he simply passed along a poignant email.
Guys, I've deleted my comments. Guess I've been a bit out of line..my apologies. Lately it seems I've been pissed off at just about everything.
Gonna give myself a time out till the attitude improves. Got too many friends here to go makin' enemies.
You most certainly did as TD said.. "points out the elephant in the room". It was a good read and I enjoyed it and I agree.. Thanks...
Owl,
I think you know I am in the stream of many of your thinking processes from your previous posts on varied subjects. I agree with my way of thinking the way you pronounce it. ;-) Now I know many here shun my association in the dismantling of American politics. The "elephant" as TD has alluded to is viewed as a mouse by our governmental status quo. However as a child I witnessed elephants climbing a flagpole to escape the mouse. Rambling I know...but which one of these creatures would we be most inclined to describe as our present government? The obvious remains not so obvious once taken apart IMO.
" We must stringently uphold the tenant of the law in the eyes of the people even as we are breaking it"....Boss Tweed.
....the tenants of morality such as truth, logic AND philosophy. No doubt.
