Going to Minneapolis in Sept for a couple days then to north shore of Lake Superior. Trying to decide what to do after that...go further north up into the boundary waters area or to the U.P. (Porcupine Mtn area). We will be tent camping and like to hike, sight-see, and maybe do a little canoeing. Having never been to either area I'm having a hard time deciding between them. Any recommendations, suggestions? Thanks!

Are you same guy that posted on the campfire?

If it's canoeing yer after, the BWCA all day long. true wilderness.

Heck, just go up the north shore and hang a left and yer there.

The UP is nice too.

How much time will you have? How much driving do you want to do? How do you want to split your hiking/canoeing/sightseeing?

You may want to check out Northern WI. North Country Trail, several waterfalls, some good hikes through varying terrain. Some good paddling if the water isn't too low on the rivers. Several rivers are on the National Scenic Waterway.

Primitive areas in the CNF have some good camping too.
