Not if you want to get rid of a lot of feral hogs!
Yep...That's horrible if you ask me. That is a lot of meat that could have fed a lot of people.
There is no way I would do that. I have ALOT more respect for animals then these people do. Karma is a bitch too.
It's not hunting. It's killing. Don't equate the two.
hog eradication is not hunting, same as snipers being used to shoot off deet at night in places like Gettysburg National Monument. It's not hunting!
yeah, I don't like that kind of stuff. And the people who do it give me the creeps.
They're a non native invasive species causing tens of millions of dollars in crop damage in Texas alone. If you lost thousands of dollars out if your pocket every month from them we'd want to exterminate them as fast as possible and any way possible. I watched one show where they shot them from helicopters with ARs. A church group came in with a processing trailer to clean them and give them to charity organizations. The problem is there are Too many hogs to process and not enough people to handle the number of hogs. I saw where people were concerned that the hogs weren't dead.
Ya, hunting and pest control 2 different things. I can see getting rid of pests like the hogs causing all the damage. The problem with this is video taping and letting everyone see it. On top of that laughing and showing enjoyment in it. This is exactly what the animal right people love to get there hands on.
The best way is to let people have the oportunity to hunt and harvest the meat. This is not always possible when over run by critters. This video seemend to be filmed purely for entertainment purposes.
I don't think that is hunting.
I don't think that is even effective eradication.
"I don't think that is even effective eradication"
Bingo ! I have been part of eradication efforts on many ranches for decades and never have we or would we ever consider such a method
Those guys were just caught up in the Tannerite craze of the last couple of years
"If you lost thousands of dollars out if your pocket every month from them we'd want to exterminate them as fast as possible and any way possible."
I doubt the tannerite bomb is the most efficient means at these guys disposal. They're just blowing up hogs purely for the fun of blowing up hogs. I don't like it, they look and sound like a bunch of 8 year olds with a pack of Black Cats and a sack full of frogs. The part that bothers me most is that the uninformed public might associate their behavior with that of ethical and humane hunters like most of us on this board.
"I saw where people were concerned that the hogs weren't dead."
So? Didn't your daddy teach you to kill humanely with respect for the life you're taking?
Bad image maybe, wrong, notsomuch....
If hogs were causing me thousands of dollars you can bet that I would deal with them. Not like that though.
I would have 5 frikkin freezers full and I'd never want for meat again!!!!....Every Christmas I be giving ground up hog meat for presents....Give to homeless....
I'm surprised nobody has made a business selling the meat if there are that many.
There are outfits that make a living trapping them, the girls run around in shorts and halter tops with pistols on their hips. I saw it on reality tv... ;-)
