Nov 14th, Fox news: "The House voted Friday to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline, sending the bill to the Senate for a showdown vote next week that could -- for the first time -- put the legislation on President Obama's desk."
"The measure passed Friday on a 252-161 vote, with 31 Democrats joining Republicans to approve it. An identical bill is expected to be voted on in the Senate on Tuesday"
Nov 18th, Fox News: "A bill to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline failed in the Senate on Tuesday by just one vote, in a setback not only for the energy project but the politically imperiled Democratic senator who pushed the legislation."
"The bill failed on a 59-41 vote. It needed 60 to pass."
All 45 Republicans voted yes. The Dems shut it down!
"This will be an early item on the agenda in the next Congress," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said after the vote"

But Canadian Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver said this week that the United States still will need foreign oil in the coming decades, and it is better if it comes from an ally. The 1,700-mile Keystone pipeline would go from the Alberta oil sands in Canada to the U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast

So the side that won should take advice from the guy who was so sure that the Dems would retain control of the Senate that he promised to leave if they lost? How did all that work out? Does he realize how foolish he appears?
You cant be that daft to really believe it will only give us 2000 temp jobs over a 1700 mile pipeline? I mean really dude? WTH do you think because it is written somewhere on the net it must be true? Get some clarity and concept of the magnitude of this thing!
It will take over 2000 just to build it and then that many just to maintain it not to mention all the other offshoot jobs that spin off the pipeline and there would be 1000's.
By the way if what you said WAS true which it ain't I would still ask what you have against 2000 jobs? Its better than Obamas shovel ready jobs that's for sure and how many 100's of billions were spent on that?
You talk of infrastructure etc but in another thread you spoke of how Obama and his minions have rebuilt the infrastructure. It is either "crumbing" or being rebuilt. You cant have it both ways dude!
It will get built. Whether through Canada or the US. Why not through the US where we get the benefit?
Don't gimmie all the oil spill and habitat BS because it is a rarity and safer than trucking it!

There may well be thousands of new jobs for this pipe line but it will be the same as the bakken they can't find enough or keep enough to fill all the positions. I read where people bitch about not being able to find a job so I say go to the bakken or some oil field as they are awash with jobs hell most of the major players in Gillette have huge billboards advertisings jobs and NO takers ! But most do not want to move to where the jobs are they want the jobs to come to them.
Example of decent jobs in the west is my youngest son just graduated from high school and his first job paid $22 an hour and his current job pays $24 with NO experience full benefits ! What I would of done back in the eighties for a $20 an hour job out of high school. Kid has it made no bills an AWESOME work ethic as he wants things and knows how to get them WORK!!!!!
So I think some are kidding themselves that there will be people tripping all over themselves to get these pipeline jobs as welfare benefits come straight to the mail box.
I am in the west and see $20 plus an hour jobs go vacant month after month after month. I work for BNSF and see the struggles they are having hiring as out here working for railroad wages is like working for minimum wage compared to the oil workers, just the way it is !
