The country’s top five theater circuits have decided not to play Sony’s The Interview, a knowledgeable source tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment have all decided against showing the film.
Carmike Cinemas confirmed its decision to drop the film on Tuesday. The other chains did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sony also had no immediate comment.
Hackers raised the threat level directed at the movie on Dec. 16, but Sony refused to back down from its plans to release the film on Dec. 25. Instead, in discussions with exhibitors, it told the exhibitors it was up to them whether or not they played the movie and that Sony would support whatever decision they made.
another win for terrorism (or at least for a guy with a twitter account and an affection for his dearleader II)
We have become French.
I can't wait for the movie to come out....the funny thing is that Sony is going to make so much more money on this movie now than they ever would have.
In my mind it was China created that living genetic defect in N. Korea...it's time they take him out.

Something I didn't know about. Seems like Reagan put the Soviets in their place with software back in 1982.
We need to do something similar to NK!!
(Obama is such a great negotiator and has alienated Israel to the point that real negotiations are totally "off the table".)
In the Sony attack OTOH, not only did Sony surrender by cancelling all forms of release of The Interview, but also Paramont also prevented the showing of Team America: World Police that was going to be shown as a replacement. Heard on the radio today that Sony has demanded that all promotional materials/movie posters for the movie must be destroyed (they would have been highly collectable).
In a rare moment of clarity, even the senile senator John McCain gets it:
"John McCain, a Republican senator from Arizona, called Sony’s decision to cancel the movie a “troubling precedent that will only empower and embolden bad actors to use cyber as an offensive weapon even more aggressively in the future.”
FEAR wins out and America has raised the white flag. But what else would be expected from the Obama administration with such a steely spined president and such notable SOS's of Clinton and Kerry.

There is technology and methodologies available with quite savvy individuals to implement and continuously monitor against just such hacking attempts.
The fact that SONY would rather spend millions of their profits to make a crappy movie rather than on cyber protection that was proven they so sorely lacked shows me just how astute their corporate leadership is.
When a company requires PII from employees (and all of them do) but then fails to adequately protect that information, the liability of the error falls directly and solely on the company - in this case SONY.
My original post was directed at that grossly negligent shortcoming.
You mention a "litigious society" - in this particular case, SONY should be held accountable for all personal information that the hackers released, or may possibly release in the future, and all employees whose SSN's etc. have been hacked are entitled to legal recourse.
"Actually Jack, we won the first cyberwar...re: Stuxnet :^) "
dave, I don't think that was us. Turns out they found a 'calling card' in Stuxnet. It seems that virus was courtesy of the Mossad. Which makes more sense; Sir Dronesalot would never lift a finger against Iran.
They retreated from there until they got back to their own cities that were in rubble by that time.
The really sad part of all this is that the worst of what Obama has done/is doing to us won't be fully realized until the bastid is long gone from office.
This will give you a pretty good idea what its like to live in North Korea. Their leader IS God there. If anyone doubts this or challenges it they risk being shipped off to a worker concentration camp and their family members too!
I've been thinking the same thing. Hollywood is in the toilet. Obama is the love child of Hollywood. What better way to drum up interest in the movie. Likely just another, "hey, look over there!"
If they hack our power grid, then I'll be worried.

This whole thing is humorous.
That North Korea committed a cyber attack against us with there Atari computers.
They can't even provide electricity to their people...
Our computer people are going to show them what a cyber attack really is...LOL I got the feeling they are going to start having some serious problems with their computers....Its funny...lol
