I'm a huge Pac fan, but was sorely disappointed last night. I will say Mayweather is a good boxer, but all this talk about how he is just amazing and controlled the fight,.... It wasn't Mayweather winning, but Pacquaio losing. Manny never showed up except a couple times early on. He'd corner Mayweather on the ropes, and then let him out repeatedly. One of the few times he did cut loose and connected, you could see the stunned look on Mayweather's face. If he would have come in with his usual intensity of volume punches I think the outcome would have been vastly different.
Watching Mayweather do his "magic" is like watching fencing or chess, not boxing. Clench, hold, run around, lunge and tap. Definitely the right way to win the score card, but not impressive, interesting, or admirable IMO.
I will say this though, Manny's comments about thinking he won and hitting Mayweather more were crap. That was poor form and bad sportsmanship. Gotta man up and admit it when you’re fairly beaten. On the other hand, as much as I detest and loather Mayweather, I have to hand it to him for being gracious in his comments about how Pac is a heck of a fighter and still a champion.
In the end you can’t argue with the win, I just feel Pacquaio gave it to him.
If his shoulder was really injured he should have postponed the fight.
Mayweather made $100,000,000 bucks last night.
Crazy money. Insane money.
From what I've read it seems this may require surgery and the recovery time can be 9 months or more.
I have to believe the fight wasn't canceled due to what would be required to fix this and the likelihood the fight never would happen; way too much money to walk away.
The excuse I hate hearing from a losing fighter (or his camp) is the old stand-by "over-trained"; this isn't an excuse and there's no doubt it impacted the fight. It's a shame as now we can only wonder what a health Pac-Man would have done.
He said his goal all along, since day 1 of his career was to be the first boxer to make 9 figures in one night. Mission accomplished. He's got to be the best self-promoter since Ali, if not the best ever.
Nobody makes you buy a ticket.....
