This "Outdoor Edge Orange Swing Blaze Hunting Knife Two Blades in One", is this a good knife? Is there other knives out there that as the same style of blade to gut an animal. Please provide links to other options. I do love the orange handle, but i read online the knife rust very easily.
Consider the Victorinox Swiss Army Hunter.
It has a 4" main blade, a gutting blade, and a saw. It's about $30. And it works very well. The saw is a wood saw, but it will work for breaking down an elk. (No, not as well as a Wyoming saw, for example, but it will work.)
thanks but from what can see in any picture of the Victorinox Swiss Army Hunter, the "guting" blade as teeth on it, which isnt any good to me.
No, it's a serrated blade. No teeth.

I own a swingblade and used it on the last 2 elk I harvested. Worked fine, no complaints. Since moving to Utah, its getting bored though, as it looks like a second season of tag soap.

It's pretty tough to beat the price of the Schrade knives. Not US anymore but still a pretty good knife.
I can't comment on the swing blade.
But the Buck paklite skinner with the traction grip coating and the same on the Buck gut hook is a great combo. Well worth looking at. Both come in orange.
Smoky Mountain Knife Works has a web site and you could pick up the combo for less than $50.
The Buck gut hook is the best I've ever used. I don't use it to open the gut, but to slide up under an initial cut from leg to leg and down stomach and back to facilitate the skinning process.
The skinner knife is top notch and reasonably priced.
Check out the Smoky Knife site. It will wet your whistle. :-)

I'm very high on Buck knives. Great warranty, value, and selection.
If you have any more questions, just ask.
bad Karma's ,sorry but from what i see on this link you have provided, the blade do have teeth
hi Joey Thanks for the info, your right there's lots of knives to pick from at this site, but they are almost to cheap, lol They can't be good can they? I will be using the knife when cleaning a moose, so many gut hook style knives don't work great on moose but this .....(upside down style knife) looks like it will work good, the outdoor edge is what I was going to get but seems to be a little expensive in my opinion.
Ah man, just get a Swing Blade and be done with it. :-)
Then give us all the review when you down the moose.
Good luck
And BTW, as long as it says "made in America" on any of those Buck knives, they will handle the job at hand. Regardless of their price.
Been using my swing blade for five years and to date is my favorite knife and my pack is not without. Mine is rust free despite being left in a rain soaked pack for weeks in NW Oregon and still holds an edge well after many animals.
