I laughed because if God was who we the people were really following, there is no way that either Hillary or Trump would be in the running for President. Both are liars, both are immoral. Hillary should be in prison,, for so many things, and I won't get in to them..
But Trump, come on, an adulterer, a liar who will slander anyone who is in his way. A guy who was for abortion, then against it and is now sort of for it. I guy with no morals, who is afraid to release his tax records, or debate a Conservative one on one. This is who we have as the standard bearer....
It says a lot about the society as a whole when we have the political choices that we do have. Right now the Demoncrats are ripping each other apart between the outwardly socialist Sanders who is promising all the sheltered kids who got participation trophies all through life, never got spanked or learned that life was tough and that you have to go earn what you deserve, and even then, there was no guarantee you were going to get it. They are at war with the Hippies of the 60s who hated and vowed to fight against "The Man", but now they find themselves as "The Man" and will do everything in their power to maintain control to shape and change this nation as they deem necessary to further their agenda as well as increase their power...
Then we have Trump. Perhaps the most hedonistic candidate that has ever run for the office of President,,, openly hedonistic I mean, not like the closet rapist, Bill Clinton. Trump made millions off of sin and peoples corruption.
Just so as I don't come off as a Bible beater, I am not, but I do believe in God and I know that I am not a perfect man. I am far from it and I make mistakes daily, and ask and pray for forgiveness for them daily, as well as ask for the strength to be stronger and not make the same mistakes.
So, my point about Trump, and the fact that he reflects what the vast majority of his supporters value as well, IMO.. (I say this because I know that in the military, a unit takes on the personality of its leader. A unit reflects its leaders values,,, or lack of values.)By extension of that thought, Trump supporters, especially the rabid ones probably reflect or approve of his values, morals and character. I'm sure some even envy him... So let's talk about this.
So, think about this. The seven deadly sins are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Laziness, Wrath, Envy and Pride.
Lust – to have an intense desire or need: “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).
Gluttony – excess in eating and drinking: “for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” (Proverbs 23:21).
Greed - excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness: “Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more” (Ephesians 4:19).
Laziness – disinclined to activity or exertion: not energetic or vigorous: “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway” (Proverbs 15:19).
Wrath – strong vengeful anger or indignation: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1)
Envy – painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage: “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:1-2).
Pride - quality or state of being proud – inordinate self esteem: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).
So think about this, Trump make millions, UGE Bajillions! on the Ms. Universe competition. That is nothing more than a T+A show, thinly veiled as a talent contest, where boobs and butts are on parade.. I'm thinking that he made money off of lust.
Then there Greed. The fact that Trump made millions on gambling and indulging mans lust of money and greed would be a problem, especially when being judged, especially if he hasn't repented of this. Being complicit to the downfall of men would be a problem, at least I would think so.
Wrath..... I don't need to say anything about that.. Just look to how he went after anyone who won a state or beat him at any time. Trump is wrath,, and he unleashed his wrath, because of his envy. He was envious of Cruz winning states, so he went after him and unleashed his surrogates to go after him as well. Trump is wrath.
Trumps biggest problem though IMO is his pride. During interviews when he was asked if he ever make any mistakes, he said no. He said he has never done anything that he was ashamed of or needed to ask forgiveness for....... Hmmm...
So he has had numerous affairs while married and had affairs with married women. He bragged about this in his book. He has no clear set of morals, at least none that he can hang his hat on. He says one thing one day and then reverses himself a couple days later.
He was a liberal, and then decides to run as a Conservative Republican 1 1/2 years ago, then ditches the Conservatives at CPAC and then starts ad-libing by lashing out at everyone, and his followers ate it up.
I could go on, but it actually is pointless. It would be funny and make a great sketch comedy act if it wasn't so sad... Going over this again and again is just so futile.. Sort of like beating your head against a rock. All it does is hurt your head, and it won't change the rock. The rock just sits there. still and unable to be reasoned with.
The reason we have the rise of Trump, as well as Sanders and Clinton, is because they are who we are. IMO, they are a direct reflection of the American people and what our moral values have become. The people who support given candidates have their values reflected in that candidate... Because of that thought,, and that idea, and that belief, I fear for our nation.
Pray for our nation, and also, be prepared.
I can't say I disagree with anything you've written, but to what end?
Our political system, such as it is, puts us on a particular path to choose one of two candidates. Any third party candidate isn't even a factor to be considered a possibility.....at least for now.
Having a presumptive nominee like Trump, is certainly disappointing, but it is what we have. He is all you have attributed to him, of course, but there is ONLY one other option and that option is FAR worse in terms of our National outcome. Hillary is not only going to affect our moral condition, she will destroy many of our basic liberties.
So while I and many here dislike our choices, there is a worse one we can end up with so picking Trump is not a tacit act of the support of his character, it is a defensive vote against a quicker end. Let's hope and pray we can make a better primary pick next go-round.
Make no mistake, no matter how much the Trumpies want to excuse their support of Trump as being "anti-Establishment", it is nothing of the sort, because he isn't "anti-Establishment". It is about something deeper, and in many cases, more sinister. Trump appeals to the baser instincts, the lesser angels of human nature. The truly sad part is how that has tickled the fancy of so many voters.
The reason we keep getting horrible nominees like Bob Dole, and John McCain, and Mitt Romney, and Donald Trump, is, simply, because voters vote for them. Has nothing to do with the Establishment, has everything to do with the voters. The hardcore Trumpies will be the responsible parties if Hillary Clinton is our next President, because they elevated Donald Trump to the nomination in the first place.
Pretty much sums it up. Do we pick the devil or her assistant. For me neither.
News flash! there is no such thing as a honest politician,it's in their DNA and "We the people" have been getting screwed from day one. It's time to wake up from your self induced comas and realize there isn't a mortal alive that is going to plug the hole in the Titanic.
My advice is to get right with the lord because that is the only thing that truly matters.
Heck, if you can't trust him with your wife, how could you trust him with the Constitution and your country? It is a sad commentary on this nation when people say that you have to choose the lesser of two evils.
It would be be in this nations as well as humanity's best interest if we stopped voting for or elevating evil people. It really shouldn't be that hard, as long as you have a discerning heart.. People need to know what right is, so that they can tell when someone is p!$$ing down their backs and telling them it's raining. That is what it felt like when Trump would talk.... Then the next week, there was a reversal.. He has no core, no center.
Look, I get it, Ted Cruz lost. Got it. The thing is, when he spoke, Scott Walker too by the way, they weren't nasty, insulting or angry. They laid out facts, problems and then solutions in a coherent manner. It rang true to me what these guys were saying.. It rang true because they had been saying the same thing for years. Heck, I saw Ted Cruz at either the first or second Tea Party Rally in D.C. and he was saying the same stuff back then. Core principles don't change, unless you have a "Come to Jesus moment", and when you do, there is a lot of prayer and a lot of asking for forgiveness.. None of which Trump has ever felt he needed to do.
Trump was just an angry guy who spewed forth all sorts of hate and vitriol. I guess people were just so pissed off that he got traction. That is sad because when emotion overtakes the mind, bad decisions are usually made,,, sorta like decisions made at 2300 hrs in a bar after several shots of tequila. Usually nothing good comes of it. :-)
Anyhow, my point was sort of the same point that George Carlin made years ago. If the people that are running are the best that we can come up with, and they still get voted in to office. Who's fault is it? Is it "The Establishment", or is it "We The People", for even allowing these people to even get traction when they say they want to run for office?
Pray for this nation. Be prepared, physically, mentally and spiritually. I may not be a smart person, but I have seen a lot of stuff in my time on earth. One thing I can tell you,, things are going to get pretty strange in the not so distant future.
Peace all, Jay
That's one of the thing the Trumpies love best about him. He publicly says nasty, vulgar, crude things that they would love to say but would get fired or frowned upon by friends and family. They claim he is being "politically incorrect", but for the most part he's just being nasty, vulgar and crude.
You mean a racist guy who promised to make Germany great again?
Yea....
Yep, we feel your pain. On the flip side, this world isn't our home, we're just passin' through.
We're only accountable for our own actions so we have to do our best to make this world as good as possible for our families.
“And isn’t it funny. I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it, the only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”
Discrimination in rentals by including page "C" for "colored" folks.
How could you think he is not racist?
