Philadelphia airport workers plan to strike during DNC
The fight to raise the minimum wage is headed to the doorstep of the Democratic National Convention, with local airport workers planning to go on strike when delegates descend upon Philadelphia next week.
Roughly 1,000 workers, including those who handle luggage, attend to passengers in wheelchairs and clean plane cabins, are expected to not show up for work in order to call attention to their demands for a $15 minimum wage and the ability to join the Service Employees International Union.
"It could be a one-day strike. It could be protracted,'' SEIU spokesman Marc Goumbri said, adding that a majority of the workers voted for the action on July 12. "But it’s going to occur while delegates are in Philadelphia" for the Democratic National Convention...

Are you going to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this coming week? Well, prepare to have your liberties destroyed. The LIE-berals have banned all vape products from the convention floor. First the Democrats took away all our guns, and now they want to take away all our e-cigarettes.
Back in the good old days, the presidential nominees were chosen as God intended—by old men in smoke-filled rooms trading political favors like kids trading baseball cards. But now we’ve lost not only the smoke-filled rooms, but the vape-filled corridors of our hallowed sports stadiums where convention-goers are made to pay $9 for a Coke and can’t even suck on a Blu cig between stump speeches. Benjamin Franklin, our greatest Democratic president, is probably rolling in his grave.
What else is banned at the conventions this week? Well, for starters, selfie sticks—just like in Obama’s Disneyland. And the DEMON-crats have also banned drones. Another thing we can probably thank Obama for. (Because he loves drones.)
The most egregious ban? Guns. Can you believe it, they’re banning guns. It’s like they don’t want anybody to have any freedom at this thing.
If Bernie was the nominee they definitely wouldn’t be banning vapes at this thing, amirite? Iamrite.

From link: "... Philadelphia’s police union is blasting Hillary Clinton for inviting relatives of victims of police shootings to speak at the Democratic National Convention next week, but failing to include relatives of slain police officers.
John McNesby, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, said the union was “shocked and saddened” by the planned choice of speakers at the convention, which opens Monday in Philadelphia.
“The Fraternal Order of Police is insulted and will not soon forget that the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton are excluding the widows and other family members of police officers killed in the line of duty who were victims of explicit and not implied racism,” Mr. McNesby said in a statement.
He said it’s “sad that to win an election Mrs. Clinton must pander to the interests of people who do not know all the facts, while the men and women they seek to destroy are outside protecting the political institutions of this country.
“Mrs. Clinton, you should be ashamed of yourself, if that is possible.”

Hillary Claims Americans ‘Have No Right to Know Who is FUNDING the DNC’
Hillary thinks it’s nobodies business to know who funds the DNC. Is she right about this? Or do we have a right to know?
The host committee for the Democratic National Convention wants to keep its donor list under wraps until after the convention even though a state open records agency has ordered its release.
A Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee lawyer told a judge Thursday the release of fundraising records could harm the organization’s last-minute efforts to seek donations and negotiate vendor contracts.
Lawyer David Pittinsky said those efforts were still ongoing even though the four-day convention starts Monday.
The host committee set out to raise about $60 million from private sources, but secured a $15 million line of credit from the city as a safety net.
The committee must therefore file financial updates with the city.
Independent journalist Dustin Slaughter considers those filings public, and the state’s open records agency agreed with him last month. He said his interest in the event’s potential cost to the city stems from the fact the pope’s visit last year ultimately cost the city $8 million.
‘In light of the fact that the host committee is still short on its fundraising goals, that $15 million (loan) could still come into play. The public has a right to know what’s happening behind the scenes,’ Slaughter said after Thursday’s hearing.

To the Democratic National Committee elites, keeping average Americans away from their convention is a good idea, while protecting the southern border from intruding terrorists, rapists and murderers is a bad one.
The DNC has erected a four-mile fence around its convention site at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. (Isn’t it ironic they’re doing so much to protect a site named after a bank?)

The fence, which appears to be about 8 feet tall, is intended to keep out any individuals with whom Democratic Party leaders, delegates and other liberal elites would rather not mingle...

PHILADELPHIA – The Democrats’ convention kicking off Monday still faces the potential for rowdy protests from Bernie Sanders delegates and supporters, despite the ouster of Democratic National Committee leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz serving as somewhat of a peace offering to liberal factions of the party that have accused her of tipping the scales for Hillary Clinton.

We’ve been reporting on the wall that the DNC erected outside the convention. Even noting they are now reinforcing them, after protesters managed to scale them.
As we noted, they even had a wall erected around the speaker’s podium inside the convention.
But now that that was reported, they’ve replaced that wall around the podium with a clear barrier. Stronger to keep the Bernie folks back, but harder to see that it’s there, on camera, so maybe you wouldn’t notice.
