I know there are guys on here that are big into war planes. Thought I would share a few pics of my bosses planes.
The hanger is suppose to be tornado proof. It has 2' thick concrete walls, brick on the outside. The roof has steal framework with a 6" concrete slab on top of that.
The night we hung the door we ended up working till after 8 pm to get the door off the truck and set. If I remember right it weighed 35,000 lbs with out sheeting on it.
Setting the control tower on its legs.
My view from inside the cab.
I love it.
Here's some Reno Airshow photos. Dozens and dozens of great WWII aircraft.
The sand is actually from the beach over there. I can't remember how many barrels of sand he had brought over.
Funny peculiar your post. Just seen a version of this plane buzzing over the beach here in Cancun . Seems outaplace a plane with US insignia flying Mexico air space. Perhaps an air show in the area!
Very cool pictures. Thanks for sharing.
When I was a young fellow, I spent many a rainy day putting together model airplanes that were replicas of many of those above. Helicopters and ships too, but mostly those old planes. Used to hang them from wires running from wall to wall in my room. Was pretty cool laying in bed and admiring my handy work and those models.
Then, I moved on to Playboy and Penthouse models and another kind of handy work. ;-) he he he
Cool.
Ask for a raise; he can afford it.
I've always held a fascination for WWII planes. My father's brother died in a P-47 Thunderbolt crash in CT on his 21st birthday. Training mission and his plane caught fire. Instead of bailing out, he rode the plane to the ground avoiding a crash into civilian homes.
For those interested, this is a great site about WWII aircraft. Neat to see so many have been restored to flight status:

Those are great pics, thanks for sharing. Idyll beat me to it, you should ask for more money. If your boss needs a civil engineer, let me know.

Lots of bucks tied up in toys. Just keeping them running is a major drain on the pocket book. Some of the parts are made of unobtainiam which means they have to be made from scratch. Consider a radial engine burns 2-4 gallons of oil per hour. That is oil, not gasoline.
Spent about 4000 hours helping to get a B-17 airworthy again. Hated to see it take off, as I dreaded what could possibly happen. I did get to fix things that normally would be just parts changeouts. Things like a buzzard strike on the leading edge of the wing. Or the bombsite window that delaminated. Also got to fabricate things like fake bomb fuses and gun sites and gun mounts. Probably the most satisfying job I ever held.
I would take 2 weeks more of vacation then a raise. What I really need to do is talk him into letting me work remotely in the fall and winter.
wow. I thought my new neighbor's muscle car collection, giant garage to house the cars, heated and air conditioned horse stables was was over the top. I can see your boss has him outgunned by a long shot!
I hear you on the vacation.....better than money!
