They keep calling this the countries largest dam. Maybe the largest earthen dam.

They're expecting a lot of rain over the next few days. They've lowered the lake level by nearly 50 feet... lets hope that's enough capacity to handle the next rush of water headed their way.

I believe it's the TALLEST dam. The Oahe Dam in South Dakota is (or at least was), the biggest earthen dam.

My understanding as well. Obviously since it is an earthen damn, it is not vertical, perhaps maybe leading to the confusion. The largest dam is somewhat hard to determine, since it will vary based on what metric is used to determine largest.
