"Former Sen. Joe Lieberman has emerged as the likely pick to replace recently fired FBI Director James Comey, Politico reported Thursday.

Trump met with four candidates for the top law enforcement job on Wednesday, including Lieberman, and reportedly bonded with the former Democratic vice presidential candidate, Politico reported citing a person familiar with the meeting."

I have been thinking about this disconnect for a couple of days. Seems bizarre to say the least.

He has no experience of that sort. He is, however, a man of considerable integrity. But I have to think there are other people who would be better choices. Former Colorado AG, John Suthers, comes to mind, a former prosecutor and good man. There are undoubtedly others.

And broke with them over the Islamic terrorist issues, which resulted in his being ostracized. I don't question his integrity, but I do question his experience, which should be a part of the job criteria. Just a politician is not enough for this role.

Jeff,

Joe Lieberman served as Attorney General in CT and was a damn sight better than Richard Blumenthal who did more to destroy CT's business climate than almost the entire democrat congressional (state) caucus. Joe has his issues but he has integrity and he broke with his party on the key issue of the day-terrorism, when he felt they were dead wrong on how to prosecute tHe war on terror.

I don't disagree that there are more solid choices but he would do far better than Comey.

If he is In fact the pick to head the FBI, watch the Democrats turn on him instantly ,even though he was their former VP candidate.

Being AG does not mean you were a prosecutor, as Suthers was. But the AG experience is good experience, not great. I still want someone else, but I do not question Lieberman's integrity. And the Kasowitz law firm is a national firm, with quite a few attorneys. Nothing unusual nor wrong with Trump using them and possibly recommending Lieberman. Unless, of course, you are an untrainable, and unteachable imbecile ruining young minds at Briarcliff Indoctrination Academy.

Seems an odd choice... Maybe he doesn't like HRC and whispered in Trump's ear that he'd go after her?

From the GOA..................

"Say "NO" To Anti-Gun FBI Director"

For four months, the Leftist media has worked to stampede the Trump administration into jettisoning conservative principles and moving to the Left.

Thus far, the White House has been good on guns.

Trump signed a resolution repealing the Social Security Gun Ban. He signaled that he will sign concealed carry legislation.

Trump's Supreme Court pick is a lot better than we would have gotten from Hillary Clinton.

And yet the Left keeps trying.

The most recent media "siren song" is a call for Trump to nominate a “moderate” to head the FBI.

From the standpoint of Trump's self-interest, a liberal nominee would spend the next three and a half years providing fodder for the Left's campaign to impeach and incarcerate Trump.

But a Leftist nominee will do a lot of damage to the Second Amendment too.

Currently on the table is the question of whether an unpaid parking ticket will make you a "fugitive from justice" and strip you of your gun rights.

The FBI will also decide whether to back up the NICS system and create a de facto national gun registry.

And, if the president orders the FBI to remove the names of 257,000 law-abiding veterans from its NICS gun ban list, there is the question of whether the FBI will comply with that order.

All of which brings us to an anti-gun liberal, former Connecticut Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman.

Make no mistake: Despite what MSNBC thinks, Lieberman is no moderate. True, he staged a revolt against ultra-Left Connecticut Democrats when they tried to nominate someone else for his Senate seat.

Lieberman's record on guns is abysmal. He voted against legislation to allow law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights in parks, on trains, or in the District of Columbia.

He supports so-called “gun free zones,” which turn innocent civilians into sitting ducks.

Lieberman supported legislation to ban all private firearms sales in the country, and he cast one of the deciding votes against concealed carry reciprocity.

His voting record earned him an “F” rating with Gun Owners of America.

In short, Lieberman hates guns as much as the craziest gun hater in the Senate. And, as FBI director, he would have an enormous influence over gun policy.

Lieberman's ascendancy falls on the heels of equally dangerous suggestions.

Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who, as you know accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes on behalf of his wife's state Senate campaign in Virginia -- and, in exchange, dropped charges against Clinton's home-brew server.

And, lest we forget, the spotlight briefly shined on the potential nomination of Merrick Garland (Obama's Supreme Court pick), who, as you remember, voted to overturn Heller and declare that the Second Amendment was nothing but a "militia right."

Why are all of these crazy Leftists suddenly gaining favor with Republican politicos?

Supposedly, they are pushing for a nominee who would gain quick support from Chuck Schumer and would be expedited through the Senate.

But trust us: No one who would be acceptable to Schumer would be any friend of the Second Amendment. And any Schumer candidate would spend the next three years working to destroy the Trump administration -- and Republicans' House and Senate reelection prospects.

ACTION: Contact President Trump. Urge him to reject Joe Lieberman, Andrew McCabe, Merrick Garland or any other anti-gun candidate as a prospect for the new FBI director.

Sincerely,

Tim Macy Chairman

"Irrelevant minutia? Is that what you call it when someone proves a point?"

Argumentum ad populum; you proceed from a false premise on the sole basis of those of similar ideological bent having the same goal; to gain by any means that which they fail in the court of public opinion. That your "point" is shared by those of kindred ideology provides only a larger population of the ignorant, not validity of the "point."

The fact of the matter is that you simply have no point; what you have is a predictable abililty to declare that a single grain of sand (one fact out of many) is the sole relevant fact to the exclusion of all others (every other grain of sand on a beach). It truly staggers the mind to imagine both the bias and the level of sheer hubris to proceed from that starting point and declare the argument over.

The shallowness of your arguments is only exceeded by the vacuous nature of your ability to engage in any debate of substantive topics; you are so out of your depth it is actually possible to feel sorry for you.

As to your being a patriot, you are more analogous to a petulant child in desperate need of a time out than any accolades accorded to those who have real skin in the game. The patriots of our history did not cower in the shadows, proclaiming the justness of their cause safely hidden behind a mask of anonymity; no, that is the realm of the coward and has been your calling card from day one here.

All of these sins of yours could at least be tolerated, if not forgiven were it not for the utter lack of imagination your meme du jour displays; I daresay that watching weeds grow in a lawn would look like the finest art next to your offerings.

Quite simply sir/madam, you are one colossal bore.

Lieberman would be a poor choice for FBI Director. I think he means well, and is pro Israel naturally, but we need a strong experienced leader there, preferably an FBI agent promoted from the inside, IMO.

No, in addition to Mike's comments, that also is an accurate description of your "manhood."
