another great talent gone too soon, politics and typical life of fame bullsh*t aside, a great musician
most likely not a favorite of all generations but the voice was strong and dynamic, the ability was rare, here's a few recent 'unplugged' tunes from his long and mostly amplified career
I like all kinds of different music. Grunge was the soundtrack to my late teens and early twenties. Soundgarden was always one of my favorites. This news pissed me off and made me sad both. Glad I saw them on tour in 2011 live. RIP.
Saw them just two weeks ago in Tuscaloosa. Still put on a great show. The band was tight. Cornell was still at the top of his game. Hated to hear it was suicide.
Greatly saddened to hear the news. Yeah, he had pipes but, even more rare, Cornell never sucked. To my reckoning, he didn't have an "off" or under-productive phase in his 30+ year career. Soundgarden, Temple of The Dog, Audioslave and the solo stuff. His material and recordings were always top shelf.
By the timeline investigators are putting together, it appears he finished the show and directly returned to his hotel to affect his end. Grunge has a really high death toll but, unfortunately, most of those were unsurprising if not imminently predictable. Not so with Cornell. He seemed to have his world in order.
I listened to that music when I was younger/when it was coming out. Not anymore. I need calmer and happier music nowadays to help me deal with the idiots of the world.
Always sad when someone kills themselves. Proper counseling and meds can save that life. People need purpose in life. Real purpose. Like bowhunting.
When I first heard Sound garden I was very impressed with their sound and his voice. He was a throwback and could have been the voice of many great acts of the 60s, 70s or 80s. So sad. Mad Dog
