Well, to GG's point, the Tea Party Movement had folks out in the street. For years. The tenor was quite different, however. One man's butthurt is another rasion d'etre.
Without getting into the vast disparity of character, the difference between now and then - Trump and Obama - is the megaphone that is the media.Now, it is amplifying the disenfranchisement whereas before it was attempting to over power it.

AND the violence. Conservatives were outraged by Obama/Dem/Liberal stuff... and then went about our business and posted here. Dems outraged by Trump stuff are rioting in the streets, shutting down first amendment rights at colleges, and trying to phony up an intelligence coup to reverse the outcome of the election.

Owl is correct, the media has been using gasoline on the flames since the primaries when it comes to Trump.
When Obama was in, it was fire extinguishers.
