Hadn’t watched it or anything on TV for a long time. Except Fox News and Netflix. It simply has become what you described. So, I’ll oblige them and do as they wish. :^)
I was strolling through the guide and also stopped at SNL last night. Remember back when it was funny, with Belushi and Akroid? Not last night.... not in years. I clicked on during the news segment when the fake-news (literally) was trying to say how noble the Dems were with Franken and others resigning.... never stopping to notice why so many of these perverts who are resigning happen to be Democrats in the first place.
I havent watched it for several years and almost did last night. Thought about the hate I knew I would see and declined. Looks like I made the right decision.
Yep, gave up on SNL many years ago after enjoying it a lot in the earlier years. Not sure if our uging was responsible or the deterioration of their material, but I do recall us watching many skits and saying to each other "there was no punchline, no joke, no real ending, it just went one until it stopped."
We did tune in to catch the Peyton Manning appearance a few years back, and I think once since then, briefly, just to check to see if it had improved. It hadn't.
We used to watch the various late night shows, too, and had slowly stopped except to catch the monologues and maybe some guest appearance that we wanted to see. Last year we finally gave up on them as well. Same story, they seem to have rejected any attempt at humor in favor of non-stop ridiculing of Trump and anyone else who might agree with him on any issue. At least with Leno, there was still a decent mixture of ridicule for each party, and it was generally deserved. Now it's just bitter partisan BS. There's usually something on an old-movie channel or Nat Geo worth watching if you search a while, but I spend more time on the 'puter at night watching u-tube vids.
Honestly I can’t even remember the last time I watched it. TNT has had non stop episodes of Star Wars. It was sure great thinking back to playing on the play ground and the biggest issue to argue about was who is going to be Luke Skywalker.
I don't know how long SNL has been horrible. Quit watching in the 90s. I watched it a couple of times with the kids a few years ago and could not believe it was still on air. Partisanship is everywhere; it is defacto state TV. Since the anthem issue, I cannot even watch the NFL channel. I watch the Hallmark channel with my wife.
I don’t even have cable service pumped into my house. We live outside of town and my kids use a set of rabbit ears to get a couple local channels or watch DVDs we borrow from the local library. I did try to watch SNL once years ago and it was like watching paint dry. I find myself outside all the time... or here.
It was actually funny back in the old days - Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy. That was further back than I'd like to admit - Hee Haw was probably still on when SNL was funny. And it was funny too.
Politics ruin all the good entertainment. Well, except for George Carlin. Smiley.
They do poke fun at the left sometimes but their bias is obvious. Watch the "Woke Jeans" skit for a little balance. The original days of SNL were amazing and I did like Chris Farley later on. I'm up but always find something different to do on Saturday nights now.
I imagine having Stuart Smalley drug through the streets and his head on a pike just outside of the state lines has really got em in a foaming at the mouth frenzy.....
Hee Haw is still on and I watch it every Saturday. Reruns of course but it is the longest surviving TV show ever. They had some really great looking women and the political jokes fit right in today.
Lol that’s what I was thinking, Matt. They’ve been killing it from a ratings perspective these last two seasons. They really ought to cut Trump a check with the material he provides them.
I don't watch it anymore. Too much low brow and juvenile humor that I just don't find funny anymore. Besides, the 'real' news is low brow and juvenile enough without adding some other knucklehead's take on it...8^)
