Nice story.

I've always preferred the more rounded rear fenders on a '56, but that '57 is one sharp ride.

Nice, I had a 55 Chevy. Put a Corvette engine in it with 2 AFB's and Vertex Magneto. I always liked the 55, 56 and 57 Chevys.

I prefer more rounded rears also. It makes a car look like a CAR! ;-)

My oldest brother died in his new 57 Chevy back in 57. My first ride was a used 55 Chevy ragtop. I liked that car, it was a fun car. I'm guessing grandson will end up with this one. $20K without labor. I forget what they were new.

I have had a 51, 55, 57 with factory fourspeed on floor and 283 with two fours, 2 dr. belaire and a 59 Impala. Loved em all and wish I still had them. Miss my 65 GTO too. That is one beautiful car and looks like your grandson did an awsome job restoring it. Thanks for showing it.

God bless, Steve

I remember a new 62 Chevy Impala was $3200. I bought one. A new 64 Plymouth Sports Fury was $4000. Had one of them also. Also had a 64 Ford convertible, with four in the floor. It had a real glass back window.

Interesting that the 55-57 were the car to have in he 60s when I was in high school. My first car was 55 Bel Air 2 door. The previous owner replaced the 265 with a 283. I ended up boring it .060over and put 3-2s on it. Sounded great when you floored it. Didn’t do much for speed but sounded good. Haha. People of today can’t appreciate the sound of multiple carbs opening up. My sons first car was a 70 Chevelle. I rebuilt the motor and the first time we were under the hood and I cracked the throttle open it scared him. He had never heard a 4 barrel kick in. When you’ve been driving around in an Escort I guess it would be scary.

Have had multiple 55-57's . Always preferred the '56! Wish I had any one of them now!

That's a very touching story. I'm so happy for both the grandpa and the grandson. My Dad had a four door 57. I always wished it was a two door. Those were the days!

Even the four doors are bringing big money now!

57 was a great year for a lot of things- grin

my neighbor has one pretty close to that- a little brighter red....those cars are worth a fortune

80-100k this week at Barret Jackson! I sold my last '56 in 1984....guess I should have held on to it a bit longer!
