Strzok key in reopening Clinton probe
Emails obtained show the FBI agent at the center of a Capitol Hill "Russian Trump storm" played a key role in a controversial FBI decision that re-opened the email investigation of Hillary Clinton just days before the 2016 election: the letter to Congress by then-FBI Director James Comey announcing the bureau was investigating newly discovered Clinton emails. The new revelation about FBI agent Peter Strzok comes as Republicans accuse him of being sympathetic to Clinton while seeking to undermine Donald Trump during the heat of the 2016 campaign season. Strzok, who co-wrote what appears to be the first draft that formed the basis of the letter Comey sent to Congress, also supported reopening the Clinton investigation once the emails were discovered on disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner's laptop, according to a source familiar with Strzok's thinking. The day after Strzok sent his draft to his colleagues, Comey released the letter to Congress, reigniting the email controversy in the final days of the campaign. Strzok did, however, harbor reservations about Comey making a public announcement just days before the election and sent a text message to that effect, two sources said. And Strzok's text messages provided to Congress show him grappling with the fallout of making the letter public, according to a CNN review of his texts. This new information reveals a more complicated portrait of Strzok than many of his critics have painted in public. Republicans have seized on text messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who were often critical of Trump, to characterize the two -- who were having an extramarital affair -- as part of an effort to go easy on Clinton and get tough with Trump.
nice deflect and obfuscation there ... Strozk is a slime bag... and THAT is a fact .. your doing just as I predicted dems/libs/#neverTrumpers would do
Have you ever heard about using paragraphs, spacing, sentence structure, editing and readability?
And then there's this: When you cut-n-paste something from the 'net, you are supposed to credit your source.
Otherwise, it's plagerism.
Who are you, really? Joe Biden?
You had me until you said according to CNN.
"CNN".......like that's a credible source. Almost as credible as Huffington.
"according to a source familiar with Strzok's thinking" Well then, that says it all..... sounds like a slam dunk..... open and shut....
Good grief you people are beyond grasping at straws...... you're gasping for air......
They were REQUIRED to "reopen the probe" if new evidence turned up. Even at that they sat on it for a week or more. Likely the field agents that made the discovery were about to go public anyway on their own in protest. A lot agents PO'd about giving Clinton the free pass WRT questioning and tampering with evidence, etc. to start with, plenty threatened to quit.
Oh the next few months are going to be fun....I'm practically giddy about it.
and I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until its clear for the avg WH staff member, FBI agent to speak out.....I can almost guarantee there is going to be a river of Chit comes out on Obama, Clintons, etc.
There are a lot of Donna Braziles out there waiting to tell their story.
Then get the Ex AG Lynch on the stand....Lois Lerner...oh man....all of the Obama fan club will be crowded into that CNN safe space.
I'm dumbfounded that the left claims Comey's saying they were reopening the investigation two weeks before the election was biased and inappropriate, because it might influence the election.
Are the people who believe that crap really that stupid? Because if the FBI had new data on The Witch From Hell and did NOT release it, that would also have been influencing the election, would it not?
Strzok was ALSO the guy who reviewed the emails on the Huma/Weiner laptop to declare they had no new classified documents, thus sweeping that whole thing under the rug.
What do you think would have happened, if the fact that Wiener's e-mails were found, leaked to someone in the press? Given that there was classified info there, the FBI had no choice, but to re-open the Clinton Investigation. Otherwise, Comey was probably looking at mutiny.
