Lindsey Vonn Did Not Medal

Lindsey Vonn tanked it on her last run and didn't medal. No invite to the White-house so she can not politicize her Olympic win.
I think she has 2 more events.
Yeah she ain't done yet. Typical brainwashed dingbat, but I give her a pass because she's from Minny.
Nathan Chen would have won gold or silver had he not tanked in the short program... his skills are above the other skaters that were competing....
she gets paid like she gets the gold though.
Another victim of the MAGA effect.
So CNN asked her if she's going visit the WH if she wins. (Which I think is a ridiculous tradition to begin with)
Vonn replies "absolutely not"!
First of all, the only reason CNN asks the athletes that question is in hopes the athletes will respond like Vonn did. It's the perfect highlight moment for CNN to run more anti-Trumpism over the airwaves.
But alas, even though an American touts her disrespect for our President on national TV, and within earshot of other countries, the American people are the bad ones for calling her out on it.
KPC... "Separate from her politics, I respect her talent, her dedication, her hard work, and as an American, I have no problem rooting for her over any of her foreign competitors."
I respectfully disagree with your opinion. All of her talent, hard work, and dedication is a result of her desire to represent America in the World Olympics. I assume she has dedicated a good portion of her life to it...yet she steps up and gives the finger to the people that are supporting her just for being an American.
Not much different than the NFL kneeling, she just has a bigger audience to flaunt her ignorance AND politics in front of.
Shes not giving the finger to the American people. Clearly she’s proud of representing America. She doesn’t agree with trump. Isn’t that allowed anymore? Seriously? People have opposing viewpoints. Shocked as you may be. And in America, for the time being, we are allowed opposing viewpoints and opinions. Being upset w her about that is ridiculous. Trump would like to require everyone to adore him but for now, it ain’t happening.
I haven't been watching the Olympics, but I did hear She wouldn't visit the White house if she won a medal. She failed at winning a medal. I'm pleased with how her situation worked out. She can now fade away from the limelight where she belongs.
"I've got better things to do than perpetually hate half the country because they didn't vote the way I did."
Trust me, it has nothing to do with who I voted for as much as it has to do with how much I hate it when Americans can't refrain from making a laughing stock of us on the world stage. You bet I criticized everything Obama did. But if given the opportunity, I wouldn't bad mouth him on national TV when the current subject has absolutely nothing to do with politics. At least in the eyes of the mere athelete, politics should be the farthest thing from their minds while they compete.
Unfortunately the impressionable minds of the younger Olympians are easily swayed by the politics their folks support. I guess what I'm saying is, there's a time and place for everything. Vonn has a lot of growing up to do!
Good. Glad the dizzy hog isn't going to the White House, but you bet that she would appreciate a fan base, cheering her on, to a medal. I wouldn't watch her walk across the street. She acts just like another worthless turd, atheist.
KPC,
Quite honestly I wasn't aware that most of those folks were even invited.
I have no issue with ones choice not to visit the WH. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall hearing any of them speculating their own victory, and then declaring their refusal to visit...BEFORE they even compete. But then again, NASCAR, NFL, Etc. don't represent America in a global competition. Apple's and oranges as far as I'm concerned.
KPC - were they actually "invited" before they declined????
Excellent clarification. KPC. And for the record maybe she should get a little recognition for the dedication and time spent training in representing her nation rather than beating her down based on her opinion. Only a fraction of the population would have what it takes to be a. Olympian. That’s major respect.
Nope. She opened the door when she made the statement about the White House. She could have said many different things when asked the question. She didn't and chose to insult the President. In the end it will all be forgotten as fast as it started.
first things first, if she does win she needs to be reminded that " she didn't win"....needs to be reminded of her sickle to bear in this community effort
She sure as hell isn't hard to look at.
The Rock
^^^. Bentstick called that a hog ????
Sleepy, news flash. Over 60% of the population probably feels the same way she does. Is she not allowed a political opinion? Or are you suddenly a fan of censoring people’s opinion that don’t align w your own?
As long as the President keeps working on making America great again.... I won't worry what an athletes opinion of him is..... heck my mother wouldn't go visit him if she was invited... and I'm not going to worry too much about it....
BB. Yep, sure did. I have seen plenty that would put her to shame. I wasn't referring to her looks, anyway. I didn't call her a Ugly hog, just a dizzy one. 8^)
Sure she has an opinion. I have an opinion also. Who says I have to agree with somebody who happens to be well known? I also didn't say censor her. She chose to take a cheap shot at the President and got it thrown back in her face for losing. That's exactly what happened. I'm satisfied with how everything worked out. Trump wins again.
Work your ass off. Become one of the best in a worldwide competitive sport. Be born with good looks and attract America’s attention and get five minutes of a soapbox. So be it. Root for one of the socialist country competitors if you like. Nobody will know or care.
"Is she not allowed a political opinion?"
Sure she is! But you know the old saying...sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're dumb, than it is to open it and remove all doubt.
Seems like a Ditzy Chick moment to me......
You can say what you wish, that is an American right. But then you have to live with what you said, own it. That is an American fact.
She's had a lot of distractions, so blaming Trump is really stupid.
Who cares ?? How many of you guys would have given a rats ass if an athlete refused to go see Obummer at the White House ??
BTW, Vonn posted the third fastest time in the downhill training runs, after intentionally slowing down at the finish, just to get into the heads of the competition. I expect her to medal easily in this event, and gold is a strong possibility.
Like her politics, or not, if you're a skier, you have to admire her talent.
Matt
GG,
Yeah yeah, whatever....I’m trying to get past the pic. :)
Bowbender,
LOL! Yeah, like my commentary matters after that pic. ;-)
Matt
She got a bronze last night in downhill...... Being in the top 3 in the world is pretty good at 33 after having broken many bones in crashes....
Yep, the Italian and Norwegian skiers were younger and faster, but I'm still proud of Vonn. Her emotional interview right after the race was also inspiring. Politics aside, she really is a smart women...and easy on the eyes, too.
The downhill is my kind of Olympic event. Ski A to B faster than everyone else, stay on course, and you win. No subjective scoring by judges and no style points, just speed, baby.
Matt
Hockey is another good one.... score more goals and win.....
The women are going for gold against powerhouse Canada tonight but it won't be on until 11 here........ I'll be in bed.
BB,
I like hockey too, but it's also subjectively refereed, which can lead to unfairness.
Matt
Skiing ain't so 'pure' in the fairness department either...
Conditions can change dramatically throughout the competition, both the snow conditions and the weather conditions...also usage can change the course dramatically.
The hill is never the same from the first skier to the last skier, ever.
Also, this was not a good Olympic performance for Vonn, she had been dominating the World Cup leading up to it.
She choked.
Bodie Miller's constant commentary about the changing course conditions (increasing wind) was kinda debunked by the 2nd place Norwegian skier who was one of the last skiers down the course.
It may not be "pure", but it's far closer to that than any of the judged events.
Matt
I didn't even watch, but I know enough to say that skiing has enough variables involved to make it less 'pure' than say the 100 meter dash.
You're absolutely right about the judged events. Not even close to being fair.
Nathan Chen choked. He didn't even Medal. But just because you have the skills doesn't mean you'll nail it when the world is watching
Wish the Olympics were still for amateurs....
Yeah....this is woman....and Paul Zeiden is honest...
Yeah....this is woman....and Paul Zeiden is honest...
Enjoy the next few Olympics, because once the trannys take over the women's sports it's all over.
She's almost as big as the German women.
Technically, every mother deserves a gold medal. But Kikkan Randall, the only mom competing for Team USA in the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, literally earned one Wednesday, combining with Jessie Diggins to win the United States’ first medal in women’s Olympic cross-country competition.
Just saw that AMAZING gold medal performance by our Women's team cross country sprint event. Wow.
My wife and I were yelling encouragement at the tube, Bowsniper. Loved it.
Matt
How did the women's combined event turn out with Mikaela vs Lindsey Vonn??
Not sure but the women's hockey team beat Canada in a shootout to win the gold last night !!!
Vonn blew the slolam and the other silvered.
