There is a book out about a fella from th UK that hunted Africa in the 1800s. The round ball he shot out of one of those punt guns weighed 8 ounces. He said it could spin you around.

Looks like he is blowing a lot of powder out of the barrel, needs a hotter, more reliable ignition source:)
