So why did I have to sign "shut up" documents in order to get a Secret clearance many moons ago in the Army? Why, when years later as a teacher working on a research project with the National Park Service, did I sign another form saying I would not disclose the locations of the critters were were documenting? Why as a teacher do I sign forms every year saying I will not disclose information to unauthorized individuals concerning students?

Trump does this purely for intimidation purposes. A president CANNOT require an NDA. The staffers do not work for him. Further, there is a penalty of 10 million dollars if they violate it. So who gets the money? Trump? The Fed Govt? Who sues for violation of the NDA? Trump? His personal lawyers? White House counsel? Salagi, apples and oranges. Teachers can not divulge personal info of students. You wouldn’t have been sued for millions for breaking your signed forms.

Apple and oranges huh? I gave you 3 examples of where I personally dealing with 3 different government entities had to sign NDA's. Breaking those could result in a fine, being sued, (probably not for millions but as much as $100,000 by law), loss of job, and/or time in such resorts as Ft Leavenworth, depending on which government agency we are talking about. So apple and oranges? No, the size of the fruit might be different, but the penalties are still there for breaking the NDA.
