Post up all things desert on here. There has to be a bunch of guys down there doing some winter skill building. Coues, Mule deer, Javelina, Coatimundi, Predators, Quail, photography, what ever it is (desert related of course) post up some stories, photos, and or videos. Tips- information, anything you got!
Somebody show me a Coatimundi.. Still have never seen one.. Make me a believer.
Was down there mid Jan for Javelina and Quail with two good friends. Killed our pigs on day two then worked over the quail. Had a great time and took lots of pictures. Last day of quail hunting somewhere along the way my camera fell out of my vest. Sucks.

No idea on age of the "King" I know he's the Biggest I've seen, with that Crown I had to call him King...or Elvis haha...they say they don't get arms until they're 75yrs Old...saw a Few Good Rams and a lot of Ewes...Thanks for the Photos comment...4finger

Someone asked about Coatimundi. We were down filming Coues deer/javi/rabbit/quail/coatimundi last week. My buddy Brian Call of Gritty Bowmen arrowed this coati on Tuesday.
Gonna be a funny story when we get it edited.
Hank Shaw, wild game chef, was with us. He cooked everything we shot, including the Coati. I had no idea that antelope jackrabbit could taste so good. Same with javi. The coati was not exceptional, but when Hank was done with it, I would have taken that over some mule deer I've had.

Thanks for sharing fella's.

At first glance I thought I was going to be reading venison ice cream recipes. Hahaha. Nice pics!

Cool pics of the coatimundis guys. Hope to see one next trip to AZ. Love the desert in the winter.
I wish I would have shot this one back in 2013.
What are the rules in AZ regarding that? Okay I'm assuming?
Geez Treeman.... you'll shoot anything won't ya...... must'a been in self defense.....=D
I know, right!? I was on the look out for Javelina too, but that ranch really didn’t have too many. I dediced after a day of not shooting anything I couldn’t take it any longer and had to to borrow the outfitters shotgun for A few doves for appetizers ;)

Coolest picture I have ever had the opportunity to take. This covey of mearns quail just didn't want to fly on this cold snowy southern Arizona morning. Coues country with a fresh blanket of snow! This was a couple years ago. Wish I was there now.

DMC- That is an AWESOME photo.
From a couple of years ago, but I always liked this Javelina pic in front of some cholla and saguaro cactus.

This buck hid himself pretty well. Since it was December and I could hunt again in January in a few days I decided to go after him. Problem was I left my arrows laying on the kitchen table.
Wow. Some very cool stuff on here. Nice photos. Love the sunset stuff. The desert is truly beautiful.... super jealous
No pics here but I lived in CAsa Grande for six years. That desert is one of the most strikingly beautiful and deadly places in the world. My son and I hunted West of Tucson one year and it snowed on us. I have lived and hunted all over the west but in my memory I have never been colder in my life. We just were not that prepared for that kind of cold . We did see a coati up a back canyon though. Really neat things. God bless, Steve , Oh and thanks for the beautiful pictures and what a nice buck!!!!
A little different type of desert
But also got to spend a little time down in Arizona with a good friend and my son. I do love that country!
Very nice Treeline! Is that your bull from this year?
Yes. Not my normal elk hunting terrain, but productive.
that is awesome. Love the photo of you packing deer too.
Love the Desert...and the Critters that Live there...4finger

Do you shoot a 4 finger release?

I'm guessing you don't have to many road rage incidents??? (BTW that's technically 3 fingers and a thumb)... ;^)

Dang! That key chain gave me the hebejebe’s! Gotta be a great conversation piece:)
I love the key chain! Man you really had an awesome trip. What camera are you running?
Spent the first week of the new year chasing Coues for the first time. Planning a return over Christmas. And hopefully every year after!
Hard to compete with some of these pictures. I literally have thousands of desert pics but none like these. The desert is a beautiful place in a desolate, rugged way. You guys have captured that beauty. Thanks!
Great Photos Everyone...Creed post them, I'd still like to see them...bet there better than you let on...Casey, on what cameras, I use My Galaxy6 a lot and My Nikon D40 occasionally...4finger
Agreed^^^ I would love to see them. I actually thought some of yours were the coolest Creed.

Good luck, Robb
These pictures are awesome and make my heart ache. Didn't get my desert mule deer hunt in this year due to a foot injury and the flu. Really need to do at least a couple of javelina hunts in the next couple of weeks to soothe the soul. I love the January season here in the desert SW.
Man, you guy got me wanting to head for the desert, I luv the desert... Thanks for sharing Pix...
I’m a little slow. Saw the bales in front of Paul; first thought was *oh he brought compressed straw bales for target practice*. LoL
Okay, what am I missing in Paul's photo, I don't get it?
^^^^he found something left by the Cartels.
WOW....
Thanks woodguy65.... I'd been back pedaling out of that area really quick.... I can only think of "No Country for Old Men"...
Just got back last night. First time down. Did not kill but I will be back soon! Brought winter down from MT I think. What a great adventure.
Awesome guys! We can always count on Creed for some dandy desert photos.
Yes, it snows in the desert. This morning was around 10 degrees F.

Mountain lion tracks that we followed for 1/2 mile. Started near a Coues deer kill. Here you see a small lion print in the snow. First the big lion walked through the snow, and then the smaller lion followed.

I was already starting to obsess about hunting the deer in the AZ. Now this has pushed me over the top.
My poor wife has months of me obsessing now.
The desert is an amazing place until it hits 120 degrees. Well actually way before 120.
