My first impression was an owl that landed in the snow and sank in some.

Yup, cardboard box with eyes. Rare but they are often kept as pets by Bigfoot.

A desperate Democrat precinct captain looking for unfound Hillary ballots in Minnesota. Like the way they found Al Franken's. They already have the car trunk lined up.

Hmmm, there is a bobcat in this area that I posted on a thread last year. I got a couple more pics of it and another hunter saw it just recently very close to this site. But, I don't know. That is just one weird picture. I think SpongeBob may have taken up bowhunting.

I don't know bobcats (or coyotes) as well as you guys - we're too far north.
We have lynx (and wolves).
Over here, that would most likely be an owl.

Bob, couldn't do that as we have had a bunch of wind and snow since then. But, looking at the picture I don't see any obvious trails in the snow leading up to it. That makes me think it is an owl that just dived on something in the snow and is in an odd position that makes it looks like SpongeBob... But the proportions are all wacky. Whatever it is, it is close to 50-60 feet away from the camera. Seems way too broad to be an owl. And square.

Honestly, I said it was the gopher off of Caddy Shack because of the lack of tracks in the pic. Because I truly thought the answer of "Owl" was obvious due to that. God Bless

Gary R at Home....I presume you have read the article on the genetics of the side hill gouger? I haven't seen a copy of the Journal of Irreproducible Results in several years...is it still in publication? Anyhow....finding one on level ground would be unusual and likely non reproductive.

did you get too the camera soon enough to go look at tracks? even old tracks, will tell you several things with placement and spacing.
if it is an owl you will have some cool wing marks in the snow.

Sticksender did a bit of work on the original full sized photo, and although it isn't definite, it is looking more like an owl. A square, goofy-looking owl, but probably an owl. Thanks Stick!!
Although, Brotsky's guess that it was a Yeti (cooler) is still a close second. LOL!
